What We Offer
The Office of City Council member Hinds, District 10, is seeking an intern. This internship is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work no more than 39 hours per week. The pay for this position will be up to $21.82 an hour. This position is not eligible for benefits. We are looking for someone to join us as soon as possible, through August 1, 2024. Please note this position may require regular work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect some onsite work at the City and County Building and some remote work, which is subject to change at any time. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
What You'll Do
This position is built around the core responsibilities of policy/legislative research, constituent services, and marketing & communications. The intern for District 10 will wear many hats and adapt to priorities and tasks as needed. This is a great opportunity to learn the inner workings of City Council within the City and County of Denver through various projects, tasks, and supports needed for a growing and changing community. The Intern will experience a fast-paced, professional environment specific to special projects and scheduling details for events that pertain to city council and our community residents.
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to:
Assist in a variety of constituent services such as answering questions, complaints, concerns, and requests in a timely and professional manner
Assist in the distribution or delivery of marketing/informational materials
Provide logistical support for media events, press conferences, public outreach events and various other events
Assist with social media planning and content creation
Write competently in a variety of styles to communicate agendas, briefs, summaries for notifications, and a variety of events/meetings
Facilitate advance efforts and coordinate logistics for the 10th district Council member’s schedule and community engagements/commitments
Attend external meetings, public meetings, and project team meetings
Request and collect briefs and agendas for speaking and event preparations and meetings
Complete additional administrative projects as assigned

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor’s, or higher degree, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion)
Experience requirement: None
Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted
