About the Role:

We are looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineer with a Fabric Engineer Bias to join our facility support service team. This role involves providing building fabric maintenance and repair services, including minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating, and patch repairs. You will work across various industries and sectors, ensuring high levels of customer service and accurate record-keeping. CLINICAL Performance of clinical radiographic duties as delegated by the lead radiographer for the modality. To participate in multi-disciplinary team working. To practice within the standards of the Health Professions Council. To ensure effective communication with patients, carers and all health care professionals about all aspects of patient care. To be responsible for analysing and abstracting complex patient clinical records and applying clinical coding rules and conventions. Inputting clinical coded data onto the Patient Administration System (PAS) for inpatient, day case and outpatient attendances within the timescales agreed between the Trust and user organisations. To assist the Clinical Coding Manager in actively monitoring the completeness and timeliness of coding reporting within the strict monthly deadlines, raising any problems, including any backlogs, and their causes to the relevant divisional manager and any senior clinicians concerned. To attend internal and external meetings, events, and training as and when required and participate in and organise clinical coding workshops, awareness sessions and roadshows for all levels of staff. Attend multidisciplinary meetings to promote a thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical coding and its rules and conventions and raise awareness of the importance of complete, accurate and timely datato all levels of staff within the Trust. Clinical To be a team player and able to collaborate effectively with the Band 7 Endocrine Specialist Nurse already in post within the department and to be able to focus and develop further areas within the service that will be identified as key priorities. Autonomously, assess triage and diagnose endocrine conditions and review those with longstanding endocrine conditions, including complex patients as outpatients and inpatients, recommending or initiating appropriate treatment within agreed protocols and guidelines. GH deficiency Assessment of patients with growth hormone deficiency and provision of education prior to initiation of treatment. Monitoring of response to treatment and long-term surveillance. To ensure all patients on long-term treatment and surveillance receive regular prescriptions of their medication 3. Acromegaly patients To ensure all patients on long-acting somatostatin analogues and pegvisomant (NHS England specially commissioned medication) for uncontrolled acromegaly receive in a timely fashion their monthly prescriptions and injections with appropriate monitoring of their blood tests. 4. Initiation and monitoring of testosterone replacement therapy in patients with hypogonadism and discharge to GP care and follow up after an initial 6-month period of stabilisation as per Pan-Mersey Area Prescribing Committee guidance. 5. Provision of education to patients with adrenal insufficiency to help manage their therapy during acute illness and prevent adrenal crisis. 6. Attend the transitional endocrine clinics held quarterly with the Adult and Paediatric Endocrinology Consultants to be introduced to all patients transitioning to the Aintree adult endocrine service and become their named worker as per NICE Guidelines and help support the teenagers/young adults manage their condition during the period of transition. Administration responsibilities to include acknowledging investigations, communicating results to patients and their GPs, audit, quality measures and activity analysis. To process and be proficient in a range of diagnostic, analytical techniques used in the laboratory. To check the analytical work of other clinical scientists and non-registered analysts. To have a broad understanding of the pathology of haematological malignancies, and to show a keen interest in building this expertise up over a period of time. To undertake all laboratory procedures required for the processing of patient samples. To identify when techniques related to the processing of specimens are not working optimally. To apply critical analysis and judgement skills to ensure that the problem is resolved. To communicate where appropriate with more senior staff for advice. To take responsibility for their own work and to undertake an appropriate proportion of the total workload of the laboratory. To liaise with laboratory users, to understand their needs and to work with the senior laboratory to ensure that services are responsive to changing requirements. To assist in the documentation and investigation of service delivery issues notified by laboratory users and to ensure relevant departments are informed and appropriate action is taken. To provide interpretation of the results of highly complex diagnostic investigations and advice that will contribute to patient management. Maintain specialist technical and analytical knowledge by participating in CPD Maintain state registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC) by complying with Standards of Proficiency and Conduct. Ensure compliance with all local and national standards of work practice e.g. Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA) Maintain the knowledge and expertise necessary to perform specialized procedures during rotation through the highly specialized laboratories associated with a teaching hospital Maintain the necessary specialist knowledge and skills sufficient to work independently, seeking advice only when deemed necessary. Participate in Personnel Development Plans and Appraisals Communication and Relationships Assess the suitability and appropriateness of samples received, liaise with medical staff as necessary. Deal sympathetically during liaison with colleagues, other healthcare professionals and staff from external organisations Use empathy and understanding to ensure that technical, clinical and linguistic barriers to understanding are overcome. Negotiate with service users resolving contentious issues that conflict with laboratory service targets. Report and explain results to clinicians, biochemists and other service users Provide specialist advice to clinicians and other service users regarding specimen types, investigations required and appropriateness of test and timing of collection of specimen and turnaround times. Provide advise and guidance to students, trainees and newly qualified Biomedical Scientists Ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of a conflict of priorities relating to concurrent demands placed upon the service Scientific and Technical Use specialist knowledge across a range of procedures, authorize test results integrating and initiating further tests as appropriate. Validates results according to POCT Standard Operating Procedures. Take responsibility for finishing, checking, validating and authorizing colleagues work as necessary. Check validity and reliability of analytical processes, maintaining and monitoring satisfactory performance by internal quality control and external quality assessment to ensure accuracy and precision of POCT equipment. Manipulation of materials and objects such as microscopes and pipettes, for accurate and reliable determination of results. Monitors Quality control and reagent logs in ward areas and utilizes resources cost effectively. Assists with monitoring and managing POCT Data Management Systems. Check and monitor POCT consumables and storage facilities i.e. on ward/departmental areas and laboratory areas. Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of Point of Care Testing ward based analytical systems, across Trusts and Community practices. Reporting major faults to Trust POCT Manager. Participate in flexible working when the service demands i.e to accommodate early morning or late evening staff training sessions. Provide support for analytical procedures performed outside of the Pathology Laboratory including training, monitoring, quality management and Health and Safety. Resources Ensure data integrity when entering demographics and results into the laboratory information system using specialized laboratory software. Liaise with IT support in resolving any computer system difficulties. Make suitable alternative arrangements in the case of equipment malfunction Monitor and store consumables, and reagents in appropriate conditions. Audit fridge/freezer temperature in POCT areas. Authorise the use of transport for exchanging faulty/checking performance of POCT Equipment, EQA samples distribution and delivering consumables to POCT services across sites.
