At Serco, we have six business units in our UK & Europe Division, with around 25,000 employees delivering services across our core capabilities, which includes Health, Defence, Justice and Immigration, Citizen Services, Transport and Community Services. We have an opportunity to join our internal communications team, across Justice and Immigration and Health. As our Internal Communications Manager, you will provide internal communications support and expertise to our business units, to drive employee awareness and engagement across the unit, and to work with communications and marketing colleagues to help raise our profile and reputation in the external market.
You will build strong working relationships with leaders and senior managers so that you are fully aware of business activity taking place and can identify opportunities for communication.
You will also have close working relationships with the Media Relations and Marketing teams and communications colleagues embedded in our operating units.
Your Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure all communication complies with business requirements and corporate/brand policies.
- Develop and implement communication plans for internal communication to support increased employee engagement. This includes a focus on management engagement across the business unit and specific emphasis on how we communicate with our frontline workforce.
- Develop and publish a range of internal communications such that employees understand our strategic priorities and how we are progressing against them and encourages two-way conversations with our leaders.
- Develop effective communication channels and content to communicate with employees, such as newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, social media and digital content and other communication materials.
- Proactively develop our network of Communications Champions and build a community of practice with communication colleagues embedded in our operating units.
- Work closely with HR colleagues to support the delivery of appropriate recognition schemes and promotion of employee benefits.
- Manage external events aligned to the marketing strategy of the business, as when and required.
- Manage internal events, such as monthly business update calls and our annual management conference.
What you’ll need to do the role:
As Communication Manager, you will have excellent written and visual display skills, copy writing and editing skills with proven experience of using effective internal communication to support increased employee engagement. You will have proven experience of developing and publishing communication materials under limited supervision and guidance. You will have excellent communication skills at all levels with the ability to build strong working relationships and networks across a complex organisation to deliver results.
Ability and willingness to undertake occasional travel and some overnight stays to support our geographically dispersed contracts.
