Leverage Finance Distribution and Trading is seeking a senior desk strategist to lead and manage a strategy group within the leverage loan and high yield group. This role reports into Trading and will work closely Sales, Trading, Banking, & Institutional Clients. Candidate and their led team will focus on being able to generate secondary trading opportunities for the desk both in risk and riskless capacity. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and interpersonal skills and is comfortable presenting their analysis both internally and externally. Specific tasks of the role include direct interaction with clients for idea generation, building financial models, writing/presenting credit summaries and developing actionable trade ideas to traders and investor clients alike, and supporting all primary/secondary client inquiry. Industries of interest include Autos; business services; Canadian energy; food and consumer products; healthcare; retail; financials; industrials; metals and mining; and telecommunications, media and technology.
Qualifications:
· Typically, between 5 - 7 years of experience in investment banking, credit research, equity research or trading desk research.
· Series 7, 63 licenses will be required
Ability to multitask in a high paced environment
· Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, investment and financial reports.
· Specialized knowledge from education and/or business experience.
· Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth.
· Management, collaboration & team building skills - In-depth.
· Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth.
· Influence skills - In-depth.
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $275,000 - 350,000 plus year end bonus.
Compensation and Benefits:
The base salary represents BMO Financial Group’s hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
Base salary is one component of BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package for employees, which may include performance-based incentives, commissions or discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
