Job Summary:

Teledyne FLIR is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work in the Surveillance Systems Division.  This position will work with a diversified team across multiple locations on high performance airborne gimballed systems.  The position will require technical leadership from conceptual design to testing and production implementation.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for taking product designs from concept through prototyping into final production.

• Support product testing in the laboratory and on company owned airborne platforms for flight testing.

• Design electro-mechanical parts and assemblies with SolidWorks, including gyro stabilized gimballed sensors.

• Responsible for the mechanical specifications and planning related to electro-mechanical system design.

• Effectively communicate among cross discipline teams located in multiple sites.  

Job Qualifications:

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred, with 5+ years of experience with the design of airborne gimballed systems.

• Familiarity with duplex bearings, dynamic seals and lightweight, stiffness-driven structural design required.

• Experience designing with a solid modeling CAD program (SolidWorks a plus).

• Understanding of drafting standards including geo-tolerancing.

• Knowledge of stress and thermal analysis desired.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills a must.

Work Arrangement:

• As the Experience Team for a community bank, we believe that our “office” may be anywhere our customers and employees live, work and play.  So while our team members may not be required to come into an office on a set schedule, we are expected to engage in purposeful, in-person collaboration and to be active participants in the M&T community and the communities we serve.  This may require quarterly to monthly travel within the M&T Bank footprint.

Teaching load for lecturer positions is 4 lecture-style courses each semester. They are not studio-style courses and you have the opportunity to develop signature courses.

Candidates should have experience as the instructor of record for courses in broad areas of graphic design and expertise in the technology used in modern professional design practice. They should demonstrate a passion for teaching core graphic design skills, typography, and visual communication to undergraduates. Desired areas of specialization include publishing, graphic identity, information design, packaging, advertising, and collateral. Expertise in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is required, and relevant work experience preferred. The successful applicant will be encouraged to develop curriculum in areas of specialization and will be invited to recalibrate existing courses, including Design as Communication.

Summary

The School of Architecture in the College of Arts, Media and Design at Northeastern University seeks applications for the 2024-25 Design Research and Teaching Fellowship, a one-year visiting appointment that provides emerging scholars, practitioners, and advocates of the built environment with the opportunity to develop a body of design research based on a specific area of interest while contributing to the vibrant intellectual culture of the school. The position is a non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor and is scheduled to commence in August, 2024.

The fellowship supports teaching related to the candidate’s area of interest, as well as modest resources for the development of independent research and creative work. Fellows will have the opportunity to design new curricula for studio and seminar courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as to teach within the School of Architecture’s core curriculum. They will be provided with opportunities to share their ongoing fellowship work with the wider Northeastern community through lectures, presentations, and exhibitions throughout the academic year. In particular, fellows are invited to engage and collaborate with the diverse faculty body within the School of Architecture, across the College of Arts, Media and Design, and with other colleges and centers across the University. Responsibilities

The teaching responsibilities of the fellowship include three courses taught during the 2024-25 academic year. At least one of the courses will take the form of a research-centric design studio that builds directly on the Fellow’s research project, and provides a way for them to draw connections between their teaching, research, and creative practice. Other courses include design studios, research seminars or representation courses within the School of Architecture’s core curriculum where the Fellow’s unique perspective on the built environment will contribute towards the existing strengths of the department on areas such as sustainable design, urban ecologies, collective housing, public health, and material experimentation.  

As the culmination of the fellowship year, the Fellow will be invited to deliver a lecture as part of the School of Architecture’s public lecture series and/or to prepare an exhibition or other event that showcases the research, teaching, and/or creative work that they conducted while in residence at the school.

Candidates must hold a terminal degree (PhD, Master’s, or equivalent) in their proposed area of research by the appointment start date. Applicants with prior studio teaching experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

We seek candidates with a record of excellent creative practice, innovative pedagogy, significant exhibited and/or published work and relevant teaching experience in any of the fields of graphic-, interaction-, information-, experience design; data visualization, creative technologies, and design process and theory. Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

The position's standard duties consist of 80% teaching, 10% service and 10% creative practice.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

• Performs the Load-in & out of band equipment and rental equipment
• Responsible for securing required passes and tickets and prepares guest lists under the direction of the stage Manager
• Cabling; assist audio & lighting crew as directed
• Band Set changes
• Ensure that members of the Band(s) have required items needed to perform the show(s)
• Responsible for communicating the details of the evening’s event to production crew
• Responsible for hanging show banners, updating marquees and other signage in the venue
• Responsible for coordinating the food trays for the band in the Music Hall
• Assist lighting & Audio crew as directed by Stage Manager or PM; Spotlight operation if required
• Maintenance and Repair of Sound, Light and Stage Equipment
• May assist the Stage Manager with show passes
• Maintain and secure House Backline, and supplies
• Maintain curtains, drapes, risers and other staging items
• Assist audio crew with stands, microphones, cables, etc.
• Assist lighting crew with fixtures, lambs, gels, cabling, etc.
• Operate and care for stage areas in a safe, clean manner
• Assist with any Special Events operations
• Ensure stage trash is taken out; stage swept or set up for next show when possible

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING

Required:

• 3 years minimum Tour and Stage Production experience
• Experience in stage lighting, pro audio systems and basic video systems
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency with all Microsoft applications
• Must possess superior interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• High School Diploma

Preferred:

• College Degree

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
• Work in an environment with moderate to loud noise level

Job Summary:

Senior Analog Design Engineer with a track record of designing high-performance analog circuits, with some experience designing open/closed loop servo controllers. Candidates should also possess technical expertise in analog and sensor signal conditioning circuits, microprocessor systems, programmable and discrete digital logic, power supply circuitry, electrical/electronic interfacing systems, and a general understanding of systems embedded software functionality.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:  Ideal candidate will have experience with:

• Low Noise Analog Circuit Design: Provide technical expertise in the development and design of low-noise analog conditioning circuits, including interface circuits for fiber optic gyros, resolver, and accelerometer sensors. Should be familiar with application of high-resolution analog to digital and digital to analog converters.
• Precision Control Systems: Designing analog circuits tailored for precision servo and motion control applications, ensuring accurate positioning and smooth operation.
• Feedback Loops: Implement low noise high accuracy feedback loops for sensors such as encoders, resolvers and fiber optic gyro’s to enable closed-loop control in servo systems, enhancing performance and accuracy.
• Motor Drive Interfaces: Create interfaces for brushed and brushless (BLDC) motor drive circuits, including power amplifiers and PWM controllers, to achieve optimal motion control in diverse applications.
• Power Supply Circuitry: Develop low and medium power point of load linear and switching power supplies to meet design requirements, optimizing efficiency and stability.
• Electrical/Electronic Interfacing: Create robust electrical/electronic interfacing systems, including CAN bus, I2C, RS422, and high-speed LVDS with considerations for good signal integrity.
• Systems Embedded Software: Possess a general understanding of systems embedded software functionality, enabling effective collaboration with software engineers and ensuring hardware-software co-design.
• Component Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate components, including operational amplifiers, voltage regulators, and passive components, based on project requirements.
• Testing and Validation: Develop test plans and procedures, and work with the engineering team to validate and characterize analog designs, resolving any issues that arise.
• PCB Layout Support: Work closely with PCB layout designers to provide guidance and support to ensure proper placement and routing of analog components.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in analog circuit design.
• Strong knowledge of analog design principles, including amplifiers, filters, voltage references, and data converters.
• Strong knowledge of power supply design using either linear and switching topologies.
• Experience with mixed-signal design and integration.
• Familiarity with PCB design and layout considerations for analog and power circuits.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (e.g., Siemens PADS or Xpedition).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
