Job Description
This role will provide shared services to both of the companies UK sites in Bristol (Manufacturing site), and Derby (Service business) to ensure legality by advising and monitoring compliance with internal regulations and, in particular, taking into account local regulatory requirements in coordination with the central business functions. Please note that the Health and Safety elements of the role will be a shared service, whereas all Quality responsibilities will be for the Bristol location only.
The role is based in Bristol, but regular travels to Derby are required by the job holder. (On average 2 visits to Derby per month)
Key Responsibilities:
The Health, Safety and Quality Manager will hold the following responsibilities:
HSE (EHS)
- Ensuring legal operations at the site by advising and monitoring compliance with external and internal regulations
- Exchange and close cooperation with the EHS central functions
- Energy management at the site and reporting of relevant EHS,- KPIs to the HQ
- Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
- Advising employees and manger on HSE issues. Working towards a strong safety awareness among the entire workforce
- Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained. Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.
- Establish a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company.
- Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
- Regular safety inspections of operating facilities, equipment and work processes as well as regular inspection of workplaces
- Reporting and analysis of EHS incidents at the site, monitoring of corrective actions, reporting to PA/EHS
- Maintenance and continuous improvement of EHS management systems
QMM
- Maintain, monitor and measure the effectiveness of PAGS Quality Management System; conduct internal audits on company quality management system; assist/facilitate other PA site audits; implement the company Quality Policy, review the contents and scope and ensure its updated accordingly
- Supports all departments in the development, maintenance and continual drive for improvement of QMS processes and documentation.
- Coordinates activities to achieve and maintain compliance to ISO 9001 and applicable business quality directives.
- Supports the organization to carry out structured processes such as risk assessments, 8Ds and lessons learned for customer and internal quality issues with focus on customer satisfaction and prevention of defects.
- Monitors and regularly reports on performance with regard to quality objectives
- Conduct annual standard reviews to ensure changes are capture and where relevant processes are updated to reflect relevant changes; communicate to the business relevant changes to specific industry standards.
- Uphold a proactive approach to QMM to drive continuous improvements
Qualifications
The job holder will hold the following knowledge and skills:
- Completed technical degree or comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience in the HSE/ EHS-area
- analytic skills, especially for legal principles and context
- Ability to write clear legally recommendations and instructions
- Good communication and team skills
- Certified Quality Manager and auditor with experience in maintenance of a Quality Management System preferred.
- Fundamental technical knowledge in special machine construction.
- Problem solving experience in methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa.
- Ability to detect faults (design, process and procedural) and to participate in finding root causes and their solutions.
- Experienced in risk management of projects.
- Experienced in leading quality and continuous improvement initiatives in a machine construction company, or equivalent blend of education and experience.
- Proficient in office standard software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams,.etc.)
- Action oriented, quick learner, ambitious; has experience in driving change and delivering results.
