There are two assistant electronics technician posts available, these are full time established posts.

Prior to being selected for interview there will be a session to attend at the hospital where your aptitude and manual dexterity will be examined, along with presentations about the job and the department.

The small, but highly skilled, Radiotherapy Engineering Team is in need of a talented assistant electronics technician capable of maintaining extremely complex medical technology. Our engineering team is close knit and offers a warm welcome to new recruits. You will be made to feel very much part of the team.

Your responsibilities will encompass the design, manufacturing, and rigorous testing of bespoke mechanical and electronic devices. Additionally, you'll assume a pivotal role in the installation of radiotherapy equipment, offering invaluable assistance to guarantee optimal performance.

Full training will be provided both on-site and at manufacturers training centres. You will be expected to attend college to attain a HNC in electrical and electronic engineering which will be fully funded by the Trust. You will be expected to work towards membership of the Register of Clinical Technologists.

Maintenance, design and manufacture.



· To partake in planned and unplanned maintenance of complex radiotherapy treatment delivery equipment and associated IT systems.

· To manufacture bespoke beam limiting devices to required tolerances using lead and other metals, and high density low melting point alloy.

· To partake in planned and unplanned maintenance of beam measuring equipment.

· To assist in installs of radiotherapy and associated equipment.

· To liaise with equipment manufacturers for maintenance advice and guidance.

· To attend technical, academic training courses as required.

· To manufacture bespoke and replacement test leads.

· Carry the departmental phone on a rotational basis to provide first contact for radiotherapy equipment problems.

· To provide safety support for more senior engineers as required.

· To design, manufacture and install custom mechanical items used on RT and other equipment.





Communication



· Cascade information from training to other staff members enabling them to maintain appropriate and correct standards.

· To provide limited technical advice on engineering or technical matters to other staff within the department.

· To liaise with outside agencies ensuring any information is shared with the appropriate staff.





Quality Assurance.



· To partake in routine and none-routine radiotherapy quality assurance.

· To perform on-going calibration and quality control of clinical dosimeters.





Information Collection and Analysis.



· To be able to locate documentation necessary for the correct operation and maintenance of equipment within radiotherapy.

· To collect and analyse data from radiotherapy treatment equipment to enable failure trends and performance variation to be identified.

· To use commercially available software to produce text documents, spreadsheets and databases for data analysis.

· Maintain logs of any faults or interventions that occur on radiotherapy equipment.

· To comply with Information Governance policy and legislation.





Take part in Research and Development



· To assist in R&D projects and to liaise with other staff working on such projects.





To maintain and develop own professional competence.



· Participate in appraisal and personal development planning process and have a current appraisal and personal development plan.

The Anaesthetic Directorate is led by a team supporting the perioperative model recommended by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. This comprises a Clinical Director and Associate Clinical Directors for Perioperative, Elective, Emergency and Workforce..

The Trust provides many tertiary services including, Neurosurgery, Interventional Radiology, Vascular, Upper GI, major Oncology Surgery, Maxilla Facial, Plastics and Burns.

Applicants are invited to apply for this Junior Clinical Fellow in Anaesthesia and will be expected to provide pre-operative assessment, anaesthesia and follow-up. You will be offered experience in the range of subspecialties we cover, a regular commitment to medical education in a variety of areas such as undergraduate medical students and simulation at Lancashire Simulation Centre and the option of a regular commitment to our state-of-the-art clinical research facility. There will be a combination of teaching lists and solo lists with appropriate supervision.

The post holder will be expected to have experience in Anaesthesia and ideally in Intensive Care Medicine. The post holder will be expected to work under distant supervision especially during out of hour’s shifts.

Welcome to our Vascular Specialist Nurse Team!

Lancashire Teaching hospital is designated as one of the major vascular centres in the country. The agreed footprint of services is a ‘hub and spoke’ arrangement with the hub being based at Preston. We are seeking a Junior Clinical Fellow. This post would be a participant on a 1 in 10 junior rota, and would be suitable for a person wishing to increase their experience with the Orthopaedic department.

The post holder will be required to work across Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley District General Hospital. The post is initially for 12 months' with a possible 6 months’ extension month post that is available to commence asap, but a suitable start date could be arranged with the successful applicant.

This post is not formally approved for training but provides excellent opportunities for progression.

This post will provide both elective and trauma experience in a major trauma centre and would be suitable for a person wishing to obtain CT / ST1/2 level experience, or ST3. This post would be suitable for a pre ST3 post experience.

You will work with a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic elective trauma surgeon.
• Organise and perform the day-to-day pre and post-operative care of inpatients advised and guided by the Registrars and Consultants in the department. You will be expected to be on the ward during the normal working day except for natural breaks and when clinical duties elsewhere so demand.
• Prepare for and attend the Registrar and Consultant ward rounds and carryout duties thus allocated.
• Examine and clerk all patients admitted to the wards. Maintain regular and comprehensive progress notes in the case records of patients.
• Attend outpatient clinics under supervision of the Consultant, as required.

Modern Education Centres are based at both Royal Preston and Chorley and South Ribble Hospital sites and offer excellent library and study facilities, including PC/Internet support for staff and students.

This is a full time role and has become available due to retirement of the existing postholder.

The role will be based within the Inpatient Pharmacy Procurement Team and be primarily warehouse based with some office duties. You may be asked to work cross-site between RPH and CDH; a shuttle bus service is available for staff. You will be working within a dedicated team whose primary role is to obtain medication in a timely fashion for our patients.

The core hours of duty of the team are between 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday and you would work 7.5 hours each day between these times.

Depending on bed capacity within the hospital, there are occasions where the volume of work requires flexibility from the team. If additional hours are worked, you will be reimbursed with additional pay or time off in lieu.



You will need to have the ability to prioritise your time, be calm under pressure to meet daily deadlines with suppliers and be confident using a PC to complete your tasks.
