Additional information:Travel requirements may occasionally involve an overnight stay, so some flexibility in working hours is needed. However, there is no weekend or evening work.

Working as part of the Facilities and Health & Safety Department to complete property inspections to maintain and enhance the condition of their property portfolio.

Responsibilities include:

• Approximately 130 properties across the South West of England. These are pre-dominantly residential properties but also include hostels, retail shops and offices. These properties need to be inspected annually by the Property Inspector, but with support provided by the H&S Officer.
• To provide accurate property inspection reports on the compliance of the property, ensuring that each building meets the applicable safety standards and contributing to maintaining 100% safety and compliance across the portfolio.
• To support with the delivery of training of other members of staff on Property/ Housing Management to help develop this knowledge and these skills across the organisation.
• To maintain and foster good working relationships with key stakeholders: internal teams, residents and landlords.

What you'll need to succeed

• Full valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance and willingness to use for work purpose and travel across the region with occasional overnight visits.
• At least 1 year experience in property management.
• Knowledge on compliance framework for buildings

You will use your defect diagnosis skills to get under the skin of an issue, before creating a report to outline the required actions. As the specialist surveyor, you will take a lead in the project management of the repair phases of your projects, liaising with both external contractors and an in-house trade team to ensure repairs are completed to the required quality, in-line with the report and within budget.


What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in this position, it would be highly beneficial to have worked as a trade historically (carpenter, plumber, electrician etc.), before progressing into supervisory and surveying positions, or becoming a building surveyor. This background will mean that you'll be able to accurately and confidently liaise with trade supervisors and create reports that mean repair issues are resolved to the highest of standards. You'll need to be able to back up your experience and credibility with some qualifications, which could include a HNC or HND in construction or a degree in Building Surveying.

Your new role
Joining as a maintenance operations professional, you will lead a team consisting of over 21 operatives consisting of plumbers, electricians, carpenters and multi-trade operatives. You'll coordinate and lead this team to ensure that they are delivering an efficient and high-quality day-to-day maintenance service across the portfolio of various building types. You'll inspect more complex repair and defect issues before recommending a course of action, as well as helping to deliver planned maintenance programmes and ensure that property compliance and health & safety standards are continuously maintained.

In order to succeed in this position, you will need to be able to demonstrate an excellent operational management background within a direct labour environment. Experience working within a property maintenance setting, within a varied and diverse estate would be beneficial.

What you'll get in return
In return, you will receive an interim contract with initial duration of between three and six months - this contract is likely to extend beyond this point, however could also progress into a permanent and salaried position should this be of interest. You will receive a salary of £55,000, paid to you on a monthly basis across the duration of your contract period in this role.
