The Operations Manager will typically be based in the shop and café, a beautiful facility within a stunning hub complex that is in the heart of the village. This is more than a 9 – 5 position and flexibility will be required, including cover during weekends and occasional evenings.
The shop and café are about to be brought back under community management. This presents an exciting opportunity to join our client at the very start of their journey. You will play a vital role in helping them to rebrand, relaunch and grow.
Is this you?
Are you looking for your next exciting next challenge? We want an enthusiastic and entrepreneurial individual who is keen to take the reins and help our client launch and develop their rural shop and café. If you have experience in café, retail, or hospitality management, this could be the perfect role for you. Alternatively, if you have management experience in another sector and are keen to transfer your leadership skills, whilst learning something new, we’d like to hear from you too.
Our priority is, and always will be, our community and providing a phenomenal customer experience. We're looking for someone who is passionate about being at the front, making great coffee, working with the team, and serving customers – not sitting out the back on a laptop or posting on Instagram. You will have to be able to manage your own week to make any admin time effective and not detrimental to the ethos of our business.
While we would love for everyone to have a weekend day off, it's also our busiest time by far, so you should expect to work quite a lot of Saturdays and Sundays – however you should be able to work with your staff to train everyone up to a high enough level to leave a strong team in your absence.
About the role
You will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of our rural cafe and shop operations, including staff, inventory, marketing, and finance.
You will direct daily activities to ensure excellent customer service, quality products, and profitable performance.
You will be responsible for:
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of retail shop and cafe staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of daily operations, including inventory management, scheduling, quality control, balanced end-of-day reconciliations and customer service.
- Customer Experience: Ensure that each customer enjoys a memorable visit by maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, and product quality.
- Financial Management: Monitor financial performance, produce reports on key performance indicators, operate within budgets, and implement strategies to meet revenue and profit targets.
- Marketing and Promotion: Contribute to marketing initiatives, promotions, and events to attract and retain customers.
- Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and develop relationships with suppliers.
- IT: Oversee and ensure the best use of IT including the EPOS system.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure that the retail shop and cafe adhere to health and safety regulations and other regulatory requirements.
JOIN THE TEAM
Does this sound like a role for you? If yes, we will welcome the chance to talk to you. Please email a covering letter and an up-to-date CV to nperks@redstartuk.com.
Closing date: Monday, 1st April 2024
