Role Summary:
To lead the site engineering team to provide wide range of reliable quality products & enhance product features at optimum cost for achieving business goals.
To institute & establish engineering processes and project management system to plan, monitor & deliver product design projects and new order engineering documentation on time.
To motivate, train and manage the team to deliver projects and orders to meet the cost, schedule, and product requirements as per defined project scope or order specifications to achieve customer satisfaction.
Support Global Engineering Leaders and Product Management in implementing long- and short-range goals and objectives for business development, growth, revenue, and sales for the local site.
The primary location for this role is in Sulphur Springs, TX.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible to create a pool of engineering resources and effectively direct them in supporting the product enhancement or cost reduction projects that are necessary to fulfill the strategic vision and objectives of the Company.
- To support Global Engineering Leaders and NPD team to complete product design projects and innovate new product features to add product value, reduce cost, enhance safety, and protect company's Intellectual Property.
- To lead all site engineering teams in processing of Sales orders and producing engineering deliverables to meet statutory, regulatory / customer requirement and On Time Delivery. Identify required talents and effectively utilize for product and technology development. This will require solid and dotted line reporting structures.
- To conduct design reviews for verification and validation. Manage documentation of design activities. Review updates to national / international standards and support necessary changes to product design and certifications.
- To manage the engineering team to insure technical support to sales, marketing, sourcing & manufacturing to facilitate better decisions during tendering, pricing, sourcing and manufacturing to meet customer requirements.
- To develop design engineers and impart them with product knowledge, design process and methodology to enable them work independently on new product development & improvise product features.
- To review prototype evaluations to qualify valves against various customer specification and requirements and enhance business potential.
- To visit plants, vendors and customer sites and conduct meetings, train with new products and features to enhance product knowledge to adopt right methods and processes during manufacture and for proper/safe use of the equipment.
- To ensure that the engineering team has proper design tools, software packages and departmental methods and practices to reduce design lead time and improve internal customer satisfaction.
- To work with other cross-functional disciplines to resolve product issues. Evaluate customer specifications and align requirements with identified customer expectations.
- To formulate strategies and align with other functional areas to achieve organizational goals; resolve highly complex technical issues.
- Perform administrative tasks related to local statutory requirements, staffing, performance evaluations, compensation, career paths, training etc.
- Work with employees to establish their individual development and career plans, mentors, and coaches. Assess performance and provide feedback to direct reports.
- Establish training methods to develop people towards adherence of systems and procedures to achieve best of the class quality.
Accountability & Authority:
- Approval of designs/documents – Layouts, BOMs, Drawings, Calculations, Analyses, and Test Reports.
- Recommending team staffing additions and subtractions, coordinating recruitment of engineers for the design and order engineering functions.
- Support internal and external audits to meet or maintain product or facility certifications to various industry standards or customer specifications, such as ISO 9001, PED/CE marking, API monogram, SIL, and CRN.
- Final validation and release of product design packages, conforming and monogrammed to API 6D, API 6A & API 609.
- Approval of non-conforming products design. Implementation of actions resulting from non-conformance, risk assessment and MOC.
- Identification / traceability of products.
- Engineering metrics, design objectives.
Requirements:
- BS (Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent degree with 15+ years of experience in Design engineering / R&D.
- Engineer Supervisory / Manager experience with minimum of 5+ years.
- Business understanding, valve design technology & applications, strong domain knowledge, manufacturing process, statutory requirements, customer requirements & expectations.
- Pressure vessel design, strong knowledge in design calculations, applied mechanics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, codes & standards.
- Sound knowledge of Quality Management System, product standards & approvals.
- Performance planning and evaluation, coaching and mentoring employees, developing strong and effective teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Conceptual thinking, technical resolution & problem solving.
- Excellent time management, planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Oracle, AutoCAD, Solid Works, MS office, Ansys Workbench, Ansys/CFX.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Certification in Masters / Management courses.
- Experience with valve automation
