About you and this role
You are a Civil Engineer with experience in structural design and analysis that will be a technical resource and a project civil discipline resource. You focus on safety in your designs and enjoy working on a team.
You have a strong technical knowledge base and require minimal supervision, demonstrating competencies in initiative, teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal effectiveness. You provide specialized technical support and solutions for Project Engineering, Operations and Maintenance teams.
As a technical resource, you are primarily involved in application of technology. Use technical knowledge and problem solving to deliver value for Dow. Participate on local, regional, and/or global teams to continuously improve civil / structural engineering expertise and best practices. Provide timely responses for short term technical requests.
In the project capacity, you will learn Dow’s project execution methodology, utilize discipline-specific work processes and associated best practices to deliver safe, cost effective and efficient solutions that meet the business opportunity plan for capital and expense projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop Civil & Structural engineering project scope and prepare documents for bid and construction.
- Collaborates with designers to lead technical contract package development and supports implementation.
- Perform Civil and Structural engineering analysis.
- Coordinate designs across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Support construction activities with design clarifications or technical support.
- Prioritize and ensure timely decision making when immediate design changes are necessary (i.e. during a Turnaround).
- Provide technical mentorship to engineers and designers.
- Ensures safety in design.
- Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and, complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
- Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- A minimum of 2 or more years of engineering, manufacturing or related experience required.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred qualifications:
- Structural experience / emphasis.
- PE licensure.
- 4+ years of industry experience.
- Experience with structural analysis software.
