SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Director of Nursing develops, organizes, directs, monitors, and evaluates assigned clinical programs in the hospital. Provides oversight of nursing in other settings within the corporation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIE
- Provides management to nursing staff.
- Ensures proper nursing care is delivered to patients.
- Administers policies for documenting patient's conditions, vital statistics, diagnosis, and prescribed treatments.
- Provides guidance to nurses who provide treatment and administer medications.
- Assist family and patients with escalated issues.
- Tracks quality control, budgeting activities, compliance, and overall financial performance of the nursing department.
- Mentors and provides career development or succession planning to nursing staff and subordinate managers.
- Liaisons with staffing coordinators on matters of shift schedules and potential opening for nursing positions.
- Ensures adequate, properly prepared personnel carry out nursing service functions.
- Promotes optimum health care delivery.
- Establishes goals and objectives for the corporation consistent with organizational philosophy. Participates in budget preparation; manages budget.
- Manages and coordinates program activities.
- Coordinates program activity with other corporate programs and community resources. Ongoing professional staff development. Serves on committees, collects data as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Understanding and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Ability to understand nursing functions in an inpatient and outpatient setting.
- Ability to coordinate a multitude of services across a broad range of nursing setting
- Ability to manage large teams.
- Must utilize conversational speech for effective verbal communication.
- Must be able to handle a high noise level, such as in some patient care areas.
- Must be able to hear equipment alarms, overhead pages, and direct verbal communication.
Minimum Requirements:
Education Level
BSN or Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration or Business Administration, or related degree.
Years of Experience
Must be a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida. Ten years of relevant experience, including prior management experience. Experience working in a psychiatric hospital setting is required, with at least three years in a leadership role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education Level
Post graduate degree in nursing or related field (MSN, DNP, DNS, or PhD)
Years of Experience
(MSN) Minimum of five years experience working in a psychiatric facility, with at least two years in a leadership role.
National certification in psychiatric nursing.
Certification/Licensure
A graduate of an accredited nursing school, licensed as an RN in the State of Florida.
