Production Operative (Electrical Assembly)

Gosport.

Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm, and 8am to 1pm on Fridays.

Eligibility: candidates will need to be BPSS clearance eligible so would have had to been in the UK for a minimum of 3 years.

The client manufactures products used across the defence sector and are looking for individuals with Electrical Assembly experience as follows:

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Prepare and assemble units / PCB's (including soldering) in accordance with detailed work instruction sheets, customer specific drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret complex CCA drawings, including systems and notes
• Verify that routings and detailed Work Instruction Sheets have been followed for all activities
• Adhere to the Company's quality operating procedures at all times during the execution of day to day assembly activities, complying with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, AS9100 and NADCAP procedures where required
• Ensure compliance to the Company's Health and Safety and Environmental procedures
• Become proficient in the procedures and processes relevant to the position and to highlight training needs when required
• Act at all times in accordance with the terms and conditions described in the Employee's contract of employment
• Apply a professional and conscious approach in your day to day operations
• Engage in 5s activities as required by local supervision and other Lean events when required to do so
• Carry out any other duties commensurate with your skills

Skills/Qualifications:

• Proven and demonstrable experience of working within electronic assembly / PCB operations, ideally within the defence or aerospace sector
• A good understanding of Health and Safety Management within an engineering / manufacturing environment
• The ability to demonstrate attention to detail and produce a high standard of work, apply a 'right first time' approach
• Ideally qualified to IPC and JSTD soldering standards
• Willingness and desire to learn new skills and invest in professional development
• Excellent communications skills with proven experience of engaging and building relationships within a team

Salary: £45k plus overtime and excellent benefits.

On call allowance - 1 in 4, £75 per week, minimum of 4 hours.

Location: Barrow in Furness

Hours of work: 7:30am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

Role Responsibilities:

• Liaise with commercial / technical / operational management to develop contractor lists and develop new business prospects.
• Work with the Contracts Manager, prepare annual business plans identifying opportunities and development of the small project's operations.
• Preparation of programmes, method statements and risk assessments.
• Procure labour / materials and sub-contractors in accordance with buying procedures ensuring waste and costs are minimised.
• Liaise with Management, keep them informed of contract progress and issues that may affect the running of the contract.
• Based upon current and projected project activity, develop an in house cost effective and multi skilled team of Technicians.
• Management and close supervision of Staff and sub-contractors.
• Knowledgeable and up to date in matters relating to Health and Safety and statutory requirements including CDM Regulations ensuring compliant at all times.
• Maintain accurate project administration files and costs (financial records).

The successful candidate:

• Extensive experience in a Project Engineering or Senior Electricians role
• Knowledge of key operational management disciplines, e.g., quality control, work planning methods and Health & Safety practices
• Capable of managing multiple projects
• IT literacy (word processing, spreadsheets and project management tools)
• Valid full driving licence
• Ability to gain SC clearance (supported by site)
• Educated to HNC / HND Standard (or equivalent)

• Manage the bid and resource co-ordination process involving both direct and indirect staff management.
• Preparation of proposal submissions including solution and option appraisal of new methods of FM Service delivery to identify valid and viable commercial delivery options.

• Must hold relevant qualification in quantity surveying (degree level preferable)
• Experience working within a QS capacity.
• Relevant experience of estimating within the FM Industry.
• Experience of working in an SFG20 environment is desirable.
• Proficient IT Skills to include, Word, Powerpoint and EXCEL.
• Ability to obtain SC Clearance.
