Senior Security Application Administrator
Office of Information Technology
The Senior Security Application Administrator directly supports the technology needs of Brown University’s Department of Public Safety, a sworn, fully-functioning law enforcement agency operating 24/7 to protect and serve the Brown community. The Senior Security Application Administrator will serve as the senior position leading the day-to-day operation of the Application Support Specialists and is the senior application administrator. This position will have a dotted line report to the Department of Public Safety.
In coordination with the Office of Information Technology and Department of Public Safety; the Senior Security Application Administrator will:
lead the day-to-day operation of the Application Support Specialists; mentoring, providing general guidance, and supporting escalated application problems
serve as the senior application administrator
assist in establishing the the roadmap to advance the Public Safety Application Suites
leads implementation of a Self-Service Access Control and Reporting Portal
assist in partnering with other internal teams to improve application integration and automation with other University Core Systems.
assist with compliance reporting
The Senior Security Application Administrator is responsible for administering the suite of Applications, Security Systems, and Public Safety Technology across the University which is used by the Department of Public Safety in the safety and security of Brown University Assets and the Brown University Community. These suites include Access Control Systems, IP Video Security Systems, License Plate Recognition Systems, Computer-Aided Dispatch Software, Incident Reporting/Records Management Software, Mobile Data Systems, and Communication Dispatch Systems.
While supporting the Applications, Security Systems, and Public Safety Technology, the Senior Security Application Administrator will look to evaluate existing systems, make recommendations for improvements, streamline processes and procedures, and serve as a resource to technical and non-technical users of these applications. All tasks shall be performed in accordance with best practices, Public Safety Technology Standard Operating Procedures and Design Standards.
Application Administrators are required to participate in an on-call rotation schedule. While on-call, the Application Administrators must be available to answer calls/emails after normal working hours and on weekends/holidays depending on the rotation order. This position requires flexible hours, including days, nights, and weekends.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred
3+ years of experience with application support or administration to include some of the following:
Application Support or Administration experience for Public Safety Application Suites, Security Systems, or Public Safety Technology required
Lead experience preferred
Willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment
The following application support or administration experience is preferred:
IMC TriTech Law Enforcement Suite
NICE 911 Recording Suite or equivalent
Zetron Communication Solution or equivalent
Software House - CCURE 9000
VMS Systems such as Exacqvision or Genetec Security Center
The following certifications preferred:
Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
In addition, this position is subject to Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) requirements. Due to the confidential, sensitive nature of information this position may encounter, applicants must be willing to allow for a Background Investigation by Brown Public Safety.
