As an ELECTRICIAN FOREMAN III (MAINTENANCE), you will:
- Assign Duties. Explain maintenance jobs to the crew at the time of assignment. Delegate segments of jobs to specific crewmembers. Provide directions as needed while jobs are in progress. Arrange for needed materials and clearances prior to the start of work.
- Maintain Discipline. As crew leader, set the pace and the example for behavior on the job. Encourage appropriate behavior of crewmembers by explaining rules and regulations. Ensure compliance through counseling and the performance appraisal system.
- Enforce Safety Rules. Lead crew safety meetings to review regulations as they apply to crew activity. Enforce regulations and insists on safe work practices to minimize risk of injury to employees or damage to equipment. Investigate all accidents, including near misses, involving persons under personal supervision. Completes required accident reports.
- Review and Inspect Work. Monitor jobs in progress to ensure that tasks are being completed correctly and in a timely manner. Work, including documentation of existing conditions, must be accurate and thorough.
- Responsibility for Quantity and Quality of Specific Tasks. Responsible for the efficient performance of the work by the crew with a minimum of wasted effort and material.
- Short-range Planning and Scheduling. Develop work assignments for the crew using computer-prepared schedules as a guide, matching manpower available with the equipment available. Develop quarterly work schedules allowing for unscheduled or emergency work.
- Long-range Planning and Scheduling. Long-range planning and scheduling is done with the Regional Manager. Planning for major projects begins one or more years ahead of the work to be done to allow time to coordinate activity of related crews, obtain special tools or parts, arrange for technical assistance, and develop methods or procedures. Long-range planning is needed to prioritize major projects and to provide for fund and staff allocations.
- Coordination of Crews and Activities. Major projects usually involve assistance of other crafts. Supervisory responsibility includes coordinating the activity of all crafts involved to make the best use of the workers on the job.
This is a temporary promotion, not to exceed one (1) year, may be extended up to five (5) years total; may be made permanent without further competition. Upon termination of the promotion, you will be returned to your original position of record, or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay. Temporary promotions may be terminated at any time based on the needs of management.
If you are currently employed at a grade equivalent to, or higher than the advertised position, the action will be considered a detail for processing purposes, and no salary increase will be associated with accepting the position. Details are processed in 120 day increments and may be extended up to two (2) years total; additional extensions may be approved at the discretion of the Human Resources Service Center Director. Upon termination of the detail, you will be returned to your original position of record. Details may be terminated at any time based on needs of management.
