12 Month Fixed Term Contract, Full Time (35 hours per week)
Due to internal promotion, we are now seeking a HR & Payroll Assistant to provide first line Human Resources and Payroll support to JRF/JRHT staff, to enable them to carry out their jobs effectively.
Reporting to the People Services Team Leader, you will spend the majority of your time on Human Resources support with the rest of your time spent supporting our Payroll team. You will deal with straightforward HR and Payroll queries, referring more complex queries to the People Services Team Leader or Payroll Team Leader and provide accurate and professional administration support which includes issuing correspondence in terms of contracts, changes and leavers, document checking and mail merges, retirement and long service processes and family leave processes. You will support the HR team by processing fit notes, self-certification, return to work interviews and occupational health referrals for prospective and current staff and provide support with the absence management process, and accurately process timesheets, expenses, absence data, starters, leavers and changes on to the Payroll system.
What we want from you:
A positive, friendly approach with good interpersonal skills and a natural desire to offer a good service.
Solid experience in a busy administration environment, preferably in HR or Payroll.
An awareness of employment legislation.
Competency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Experience of electronic diary management.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and achieve deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, able to build relationships with people at all levels across the organisation.
A keen eye for detail and the ability to use initiative.
Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
A Certificate in Personnel Practice (CPP) or Level 3 CIPD qualification (desirable).
Knowledge and experience of HR software packages (desirable).
The postholder will be expected to demonstrate the organisation’s values and behaviours.
