We have a fantastic opportunity for a full time band 5 Sexual Health Nurse to join our team in our level 3 ALL EAST sexual health service, providing integrated sexual health. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic nurse who wish to pursue an exciting career in sexual and reproductive healthcare.

The post will be primarily based at the Ambrose King Centre at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel.

Main duties of the job

The Sexual Health Nurse post will provide training to enable the successful candidate to provide care for patients with sexual health and contraceptive needs, delivering treatments and vaccinations that have been prescribed or through the use of Patient Group Directions (PGDs). This will include the provision of HIV Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and subdermal implant contraception. Training will also be provided in microscopy.

The post holder will also provide chaperoning, support and assistance for patients undergoing examination, treatments and procedures by Doctors and Nurse practitioners.

The Sexual Health Nurse post will provide training, enabling the Nurse to provide care for patients with sexual health and contraceptive needs, delivering treatments and vaccinations that have been prescribed or through the use of Patient Group Directions (PGDs). • We are pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our friendly and dynamic team to develop their career as a Sonographer. The successful applicant will undertake a CASE accredited Post Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Medical Ultrasound through a well-structured and full-time training programme that consists of a blend of academic study days at the university and clinical placement within Newham University Hospital ultrasound department and NEL Ultrasound Training Academy (hosted at Whipps Cross Hospital). You will also be assigned a supervisor who, alongside the Clinical Lead Sonographers and NEL Sonography Practice Educators, will regularly assess your progress and discuss learning objectives with you throughout the training period.
• Upon successful completion of the Post Graduate qualification and an agreed set of link grade competencies, you will move into a Band 7 Sonographer post at the Trust however you will be required to attain these within the necessary timeframe (12 or 24-months depending on the academic programme being undertaken).
• All applicants must hold a 2:1 or above undergraduate degree in a relevant science / health care field, already hold UK registration with an appropriate regulatory body

• To undertake and successfully complete a CASE accredited Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Medical Ultrasound and an agreed set of link grade competencies through block or day release academic study, self-directed study and clinical placement within the ultrasound department to be able to progress into a B7 Sonographer post following the 12 or 24-month training period (dependent on the programme being undertaken).
• The post holder will perform, under the supervision of a qualified Sonographer, a range of ultrasound examinations in line with nationally established guidelines and quality standards of practice and local departmental protocols. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and contributing to a safe, high quality and efficient ultrasound service that provides high professional standard of care ensuring that the appropriateimaging, reporting and management of the patient is provided when and where necessary. The postholder will also promote patient-centered care and uphold the Trusts values, communicating effectively with patients, relatives, carers and other healthcare professionals always.
• All trainees are expected to rotate through the NEL Ultrasound Training Academy, based at Whipps Cross Hospital are part of their clinical placement. They will liaise closely with their line manager, supervisor and the NEL Sonography Practice Educators to ensure that their academic targets are met and are linked with clinical progress to ensure timely qualification.

We are currently recruiting a number of motivated, dynamic, and forward-thinking individuals to join our team as part of the Echocardiography Training Programme from the National School of Healthcare Science and British Society of Echocardiography. These posts are fixed-term for 18-months.

Applications from candidates who have a 1st or 2:1 in Cardiac Physiology (PTP) or a relevant scientific subject (examples include Pure or Applied Physics, Engineering, Biology or Human Biology, or Sports Science (if significant scientific content) or equivalent experience and appropriate underpinning knowledge and skills in cardiology will be welcomed. As evidenced for example by appropriate voluntary registration with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists or Academy for Healthcare Science

Successful candidates will be trained to BSE accreditation level 2 and will be awarded a Post-graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography.
• The Trainee Echocardiographer will be employed for a fixed term of 18 months during which time they will work through a programme of learning.
• In conjunction with and supported by the Designated Training Officer, the Trainee Echocardiographer will be responsible for their own progression through the training programme, completing a mixture of work based competence and experience in NHS scientific departments, completing the learning outcomes as outlined in the Curriculum Library, undertaking the complementary academic Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography and preparing for and completing the BSE Transthoracic Accreditation process.
• The post holder will be expected to undertake a range of scientific and clinical functions initially under supervision. A major part of the training and development will take place within a specified host NHS organisation and is integrally linked to the knowledge and applied learning that forms part of the nationally recognised BSE accreditation programme. Post holders will also be expected to undertake mandatory training as deemed necessary by their host NHS Organisation.
