The role
As a Site Safety Practitioner you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for the provision of professional Health and Safety Management support at HMNB Clyde and its associated supply chain, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, guidance and Babcock Business Plan objectives and continuous Health and Safety Improvement. Direction on delivery will be provided by the H & S Assurance Manager
Day-to-day, you'll look at incident and events and carry out investigations. Working with departments to make H & S improvements including data input on Synergy which monitors the actions, timescales, and review
- Provision of a professional health & safety service and to provide competent professional health and safety advice
- Undertake workplace inspections to; identify hazards, determine ways of reducing risks, ensure adherence to risk assessment and best practice.
- Participate in the corporate audit program including the management of corrective and preventive actions.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and cases of ill health to identify root cause and ensure suitable and sufficient corrective and preventative action is captured in line with management system process.
- Represent department as required at committees / meetings providing relevant input and maximising shared learning opportunities.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 0800 to 1630, Friday 0800 to 1300, and is based at HMNB Clyde consisting of two sites Faslane and Coulport

Essential experience of the Site Safety Practitioner
- Proven experience in similar role within maritime, construction, oil & gas, or industrial, or similar industry
- The ability to manoeuvre and complete tasks within a submarine.
Qualifications for the Site Safety Practitioner
- Statutory/Regulatory/Standards Compliance (Legal Awareness)
- Auditing for Compliance. Engaging with Regulators
- Accident and Emergency Response
- Incident Investigations & Safety Interventions
- NEBOSH certificate and working towards Health and Safety Degree or NEBOSH Diploma would be advantageous
- Full UK driving licence
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
