The role
As a Mechanical Field Service Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This role is key to keeping the UK and NATO safe. You'll be responsible as part of the team for maintaining multi million-pound equipment that enables the end user to defend our sovereign interests and that of our allies.
Day-to-day, you'll support the Project Manager with any issues and queries related to OPDEF's (operational defects), test procedures and commissioning activities. You'll complete essential tasks supporting Fleet Time Support Periods, Ship maintenance Periods and Dry Dock periods to ensure we succeed in delivering right first time to budget and on time.-
- The collective health and safety of your team and yourself.
- Inspect, maintain and fault find Surface Ships equipment whilst adhering to health and safety policies and procedures
- Attending Point of Work Safety Assessments (POWSA) and toolbox talks
- Presenting thorough examinations, bespoke test procedures, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) statutory tests to MOD customer and Lloyds Register in a professional manner
This position involves working in confined spaces. Candidates must be able to work comfortably and perform tasks in restricted spaces.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based from Ashton House. This position requires regular travel across a range of internal and customer sites.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Field Service Engineer
- Ability to read engineering drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID'S) and hydraulic schematics
- Electrical control system installation, fault finding and maintenance. Beneficial but not a pre-requisite
- Ability to present bespoke training packages and write detailed reports
- Understanding of EH&S COSHH, Risk Assessments, PUWER, LOLER
Qualifications for the Mechanical Field Service Engineer
- ONC or above in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
