IN SHORT HMP Bullingdon are recruiting for an innovative Maths Specialist to deliver pre-entry level, up to level 2 Maths Classes.
This is an exciting opportunity where you will be actively engaging prison-based learners with creative classes and resources. Many of the learners have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, they will often have had a negative experience with education. As a successful Maths Specialist, you will truly inspire them and provide learners with a positive learning experience.
This role will involve outreach work outside of the main classroom setting. You will also be working with learners on a 1:1 basis in the wings, workshops and other areas of the prison. The Outreach work involves connecting with learners in a professional manner, supporting them with their learning, enabling them to feel more secure within education and encouraging them to return to a classroom setting.
We are seeking an individual who can communicate well with learners to inspire and motivate them. The average class consist of 8 learners and the sessions are approximately 3 hours long. The 1:1 sessions are approximately 30 mins. Your lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative and imaginative.

ABOUT HMP Bullingdon... Bullingdon Community Prison is situated near the village of Arncott in Bicester, Oxon. HMP Bullingdon is a complex prison that has several functions. It is categorized as a local category B prison which a category C resettlement function. HMP Bullingdon has the capacity to hold 1114 offenders all serving a range of sentences from remand to life, with the average length of stay between 3 and 6 months.
The College works closely with our prison colleagues to deliver short to medium courses that help prepare learners for employment upon release. Courses include: English and Maths Functional Skills (Entry 2 to Level 2), ESOL, ICT, Barista, Hospitality, Business, Self-Employment, Personal Development, Art, Painting & Decorating, Horticulture, General Maintenance Skills, Mentoring and Barbering.
