Structural Engineer Job Description

Minimum Requirements:
- We prefer 3-5 years of industry experience, however we are willing to consider less experience too.
- Proficiency in current design and drawing practices
- Strong IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Proficient in legible hand calculations
- Excellent command of the English language
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Physical fitness for activities such as climbing ladders, entering loft spaces, and working at heights
- Thorough knowledge of British Standards and Building Regulations
- Possession of a robust degree in a relevant subject
Desirable Qualities:
- Experience in Contract Administration
- Ability to professionally engage with clients, suppliers, and contractors with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with Revit
Responsibilities:
- Conducting on-site visits, drafting reports, and proposing remedial actions
- Creating structural calculations, details, and drawings in adherence to current British Standards and Building Regulations
- Providing guidance on Building Regulations applications and tender documentation
- Developing design solutions in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
- Offering on-site supervision
- Reviewing calculations for accuracy
- Collaborating with building control inspectors, clients, contractors, suppliers, and consultants
- Preparing detailed working drawings and project documentation
