The role
The Director of Strategic Partnerships will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to establish and cultivate strategic partnership relationships with biotechs and Contract Research Organisations (CROs). This role will play a critical part in expanding Avance Clinical’s global reach and driving repeat business and revenue growth through strategic collaborations. This is a leadership position that will play a critical role in driving our success and growth.
Core Responsibilities include
• Implement commercial strategic account management practices to maximize value from key clients, with the aim to expand the service offering through the clinical development program.
• Develop a deep understanding of each portfolio client's business, including their pipeline, therapeutic focus, and key decision-makers.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at each client, including C-suite executives, R&D leaders, and procurement managers.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all strategic commercial matters, ensuring clear communication and alignment between the client, operations and our organization.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including project management, clinical operations, and finance, to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet the client's expectations and business goals.
• Proactively identify opportunities for expanding our services within each client's portfolio, working closely with the commercial teams (business development, marketing, proposals, contracts) to develop and execute growth strategies.
• Act as a trusted advisor to each client, providing strategic commercial guidance, industry insights and connect them to the appropriate internal and external stakeholders to help them achieve their drug development objectives.
• Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to develop tailored messaging and materials for each client, highlighting our capabilities and value proposition.
• Regularly review and evaluate the overall health of each client relationship, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Participate in regular governance meetings with portfolio clients, in conjunction with operational teams, providing updates on project status, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives.
• Work with the commercial leadership team to identify and prioritize potential partnership opportunities with CROs and other operating partners in targeted regions.
• Develop and maintain a network of contacts within the CRO industry to facilitate partnership discussions. This may include, but not be limited to CROs and ancillary providers that provide solutions to clients.
• Monitor and evaluate partnership performance, identifying opportunities for improvement or expansion.
• Support the development of an Account Development/Inside Sales team to help drive new business.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• Ordinary degree or equivalent in an appropriate life sciences discipline (essential)
• Experience in a similar role within a CRO (essential)
• A minimum of 8 years experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical/CRO industry, with previous 3+ years of line management experience (essential)
• Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing partnership strategies and relationships that drive business growth (essential)
• Strong understanding of the CRO landscape, including key players, market trends, and regulatory requirements (essential)
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, senior management and other stakeholders.
• Excellent written communications skills including the ability to write SOPs and reports.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities, analyse problems, formulate clear and effective solutions and coordinate tasks.
• Ability to work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to take initiative in problem solving and in exercising judgment.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Willingness to work in, and be supportive of, a positive and dynamic team culture.
• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Can build and maintain positive relationships with management, peers, and subordinates.
