Contracts Manager

At ARR Craib Transport Ltd, we have a vacancy for a Contracts Manager to work out of our busy Aberdeen depot. This position will involve providing leadership and operational control of the contracts, whilst dealing with customer relationships.
The position of Contracts Manager involves:
- Develop strong partnerships with the key customers' decision makers.
- Manage relationships with key clients in the oil and gas and scrap metal industries, acting as the primary point of contact for all contract-related matters.
- Monitor contract performance, ensuring all contractual obligations are met, and addressing any variations or breaches swiftly.
- Liaise with customers to ensure our solution remains optimal and value for money, adapting our solution as customer business evolves.
- Lead monthly contract performance reviews with customers, reporting on all KPIs, sustainability, technology developments and continuous improvement/solution optimisation.
- Lead contract negotiations and commercial discussion with clients, ensuring terms are commercially sound and aligned with company objectives.
- Lead annual rate review discussions with customers.
- Oversee the daily operations of Specialist Transport operations including flatbed trailer and bulker operations, ensuring optimal utilisation and efficient scheduling.
- Consistently deliver profitability in line with group objectives.
- Deliver value for money for the Specialist Transport customers.
- Lead the operation to ensure robust systems for tracking and monitoring vehicle profitability, maintenance, and driver compliance.
- Lead the Transport Manager to ensure adherence to all UK transport regulations and industry standards, particularly those relevant to the oil and gas and scrap metal sectors.
- Lead the Specialist Transport operations team to ensure good engagement with drivers, logistics teams, and other stakeholders to resolve operational issues promptly.
- Develop and maintain contingency plans to handle unexpected challenges or disruptions.
- Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly in high-risk areas such as oil and gas transportation.
- Ensure operations team regularly review and update safety protocols, conducting risk assessments as necessary.
- Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-efficiency without compromising service quality.
- Monitor financial performance against budget, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure customers are accurately invoiced on a timely basis and liaise with customers in the event of any payment issues.
- Ensure the operational team lead and motivate a team of drivers, logistics coordinators, and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to staff.
Essential skills required for Contracts Manager:
- Experience in contract management, including negotiation, performance monitoring, and client relationship management.
- Experience in building customer relationships and influencing at senior levels in customer organisations.
- A true customer service ethos.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and driving cost efficiencies.
- Proven experience in an operations management role within the UK transport sector, specifically within specialist transport operations including flatbed trailers for the oil and gas industry and bulker trailers for scrap metal transportation.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing transport teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to manage complex and high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
- Strong understanding of UK transport regulations and compliance requirements.
