We are looking to hire committed and compassionate staff to join our friendly, professional team, whether you have experience or not. Applicants with NVQ 2 and experience welcomed, however, if you are looking to make a positive impact on the people’s lives that live with us but have no experience within the care industry, we still want to hear from you to give you the opportunity to join us as full training is provided. We will offer NVQ upon passing of probation.

Responsibilities and Duties

Our staff, support adults with mental ill-health conditions and learning disabilities in a care home environment, including supporting with daily living skill development, personal care, community-based activities, and working with some behaviors which may present as challenging.

Our clients require care 24/7 therefore weekend work is required but a shared responsibility to give you some free weekend time, this ensures our clients always receive the support that they need. Shift patterns are 12 hours on a 36 hour contract.

The safety of our Service users, staff, and premises is the utmost priority for Allied Care. The role of the general maintenance operative is to ensure that the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard. As our Maintenance operative, you’ll be a valuable member of our staff, promoting the well-being of our service users and the successful running of our care home.

This role covers Our services in Crawley and East Grinstead.

The ideal candidate will have maintenance experience in a social care and health care setting, and have good literacy and numeracy skills. A qualification in one aspect of maintenance (e.g., plumbing), would be preferred, but not essential as full training given. The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of all aspects of household maintenance, and be able to identify when an outside contractor is required and advise accordingly.

This is a full-time contract Monday – Friday with some element of emergency on-call expected to include paid call-outs if necessary.

You will be working jointly with the Home Managers to ensure that our homes are maintained to the highest of standards. Your responsibilities will include -

Liaise with home manager to prioritise and complete maintenance tasks.
General care home maintenance (moving of furniture, mowing/weeding, clearing drains and soil pipes, painting and decorating, and hanging pictures. Mending leaks. Changing taps. Includes ladder work.
Ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean. Replace any defective light bulbs/diffusers
Liaise with Home Manager or delegated Staff Member regarding maintenance work to be carried out
Ensure all equipment used by the maintenance operative is clean and well maintained
Checking control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
Install appliances and equipment
Check functionality of safety systems
Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems
Record keeping for tasks identified and completed
Manage a small maintenance budget and keep records of expenditure

The Assistant Manager must be able to demonstrate the competency requirements of a Senior Care Worker with a minimum of an NVQ/QCF level 3 in Health & Social Care and be prepared to act on behalf of the Registered Manager in their absence and be willing to study towards a level 4/5 Diploma.

This position is full-time (37.5 hrs) and involves working on a rota pattern.

An enhanced DBS is a requirement of the position.'
