About the Team:
AGF’s Corporate Accounting Team is responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of AGF’s regulatory and financial reporting through the establishment and execution of efficient, effective, and scalable internal processes and controls over the company’s accounting and financial procedures. The team also has oversight over the company’s Treasury function, including capital resource planning and forecasting.
Your Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Responsible for leading the accounts payable team (5 people), accounts payable processes and controls, including appropriate segregation of duties, adequate review of payments and supplier verification.
- Review and approve accounts payable entries for month-end close including accruals, prepaids, intercompany advisory fees and the corresponding reconciliations as applicable.
- Approve EFT payments, manual wires, Concur/Amex reimbursements, and intercompany settlement runs while ensuring that all payments are accurate and comply with AGF’s expense approval policy.
- Review departmental reports comparing actuals to budget and providing variance explanations to department heads.
- Implement process improvements in the accounts payable process.
- Respond to audit requests and ad hoc requests as required.
Institutional Billing:
- Accountable for the institutional billing accounting process including the review of monthly and quarterly institutional invoices sent out to clients, receipt of payments and corresponding reconciliations.
- Oversight of institutional billing process and participating in reviewing new investment management agreements to support the onboarding process.
- Review analytic files including Series O and Self-biller to ensure completeness over revenue recorded and reasonability of fees charged.
- Respond to audit requests and ad hoc requests as required.
Your Qualifications:
- CPA designation preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in industry or public accounting
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to use advanced Excel functions
- Strong time and project management, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with development of financial reports an asset
- Ability to adapt, learn quickly and work independently on multiple competing priorities
- Experience with Workday Financials and/or Adaptive Insights would be advantageous
