The Atlantic has, for more than 160 years, advanced ideas that matter and sparked global conversation on the most important issues of our time. We aim to bring clarity and original thinking to questions of consequence, on topics ranging from politics, the economy, and global affairs to technology, science, and culture. As the third-longest-running magazine in America, we find ourselves at a remarkable moment: one of both continuation and transformation, of upholding our legacy while continuously reinventing ourselves for the future.
The Atlantic seeks an associate art director to join the newsroom. The associate art director will create, commission, and art direct digital assignments for The Atlantic, with a focus on social media, daily coverage, and features. We are looking for someone who can identify a diverse array of artists to contribute to The Atlantic, and who thinks outside the box in their approach to design, illustration, and art direction. They should also be detail-oriented and able to oversee assignments beyond the ideation stage, from managing correspondence with freelancers to ensuring that all work meets design, production, and editorial standards.

2+ years of experience working in design, illustration, digital media, or other relevant fields
Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud. Including experience with motion graphics and video editing.
A close attention to detail and ability to multitask
A clear and concise communicator
Salary Minimum: $65,000; Salary Maximum: $70,000
