This position will report to the Sr. F&E Manager and be responsible for providing technical and administrative leadership to a group of responsible for planning, scheduling, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and improving the reliability of GMP and non-GMP equipment at Amgen Thousand Oaks (TO). Managerial responsibilities include: establishing strategy, objectives, and goals for the team, improving team performance and achievement of key metrics/milestones, supervising and technically developing direct reports, and supporting Amgen’s continuous improvement culture.

Specific responsibilities include:

Strategic / Managerial

• Meet regularly with key clients to find opportunities and establish the strategic direction for the Maintenance Team.
• Establish annual team goals and track progress / communicate to GMP F&E leadership team
• Develop staff through annual Career Development Planning and acting as a role model
• Improve team performance by conducting regular 1:1 meetings and using Maxmizing Amgen’s Performance (MAP) process : regular coaching, mid-year and end of year reviews, compensation planning, and talent management planning
• Promote Operational Excellence and Safety through purposeful presence on the floor (Regular job task walk-through with staff members)
• As a member of the extended leadership team, partner with maintenance managers to improve Maintenance support
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise to triage and resolve issues related to Maintenance process non-conformances

Technical

• Leverage knowledge of GMP F&E Process, Mechanical and Utility systems and instrumentation to develop team capabilities in diagnosis and troubleshooting of issues
• Manage lifecycle assessment and recommend replacement / upgrades as required to ensure high reliability
• Maintain awareness of relevant industry and regulatory trends for calibration /instrumentation and maintenance
• Provide input for responses to regulatory inspections or internal audits relating to instrument calibrations or maintenance programs

Logistical / Administrative

• Manage staff resources and work schedules (vacations, on-call rotation, etc.) to ensure adequate staff coverage and meet required PM calibration dates
• Ensure that staff maintain required training qualifications and are cross-trained to support multiple GMP buildings as needed
• Coordinate resources to support capital projects and work activities during maintenance shutdowns
• Manage department budget and expenses
• May require second or third shift work

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

Or

Master’s degree and 2 years of maintenance and/or operations/manufacturing experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 4years of maintenance and/or operations/manufacturing experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 years of maintenance and/or operations/manufacturing experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of maintenance and/or operations/manufacturing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in life science, technical or aligned field of study
• 6+ years of relevant work experience in operations/manufacturing environment
• 3+ years of experience with regulated environments (i.e. cGMP, OSHA, EPA)
• Managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams
• Experience working with ATO GMP F&E clients and systems (Bulk Manufacturing, Filling and Packaging, Supply Chain, Quality Labs, Small Molecule Manufacturing)
• In-depth technical knowledge of GMP instrumentation
• Experience supporting GMP capital project execution and verification activities
• Demonstrated leadership attributes as an individual contributor (e.g., leadership of initiatives or participation on network level or continuous improvement teams)
• Demonstrated proficiency in process improvement methodologies
• Leverage a strong background in GMP Maintenance combined with excellent leadership and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to support multiple clients and prioritize resources against competing objectives

Data Manager - Enterprise Asset Management/Computerized Maintenance Management System

Let’s do this! Let’s change the world! Undertake various projects assigned to develop, implement, manage, and monitor all aspects of system data as it relates to Amgen’s Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) / Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) application.

Responsibilities include:

• Support initiatives and actively participate on integrating CMMS data with other business systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to provide a comprehensive view of maintenance operations.

• Act as the in-house data steward/owner for Amgen’s EAM/CMMS database and reporting tools.

• Be the corporate expert on the information structure within the EAM/CMMS application and develop queries/reports to support standardization.

• Monitor and audit data quality, taking corrective actions as necessary.

• Manage data from requirements through retirement to improve business processes and agility while reducing costs.

• Data validation, clean-up, and adherence to enterprise data standards and business requirements.

• Improve the methods and ways in which Amgen’s facilities and equipment maintenance program obtains and analyzes data including collecting and interpreting data, analyzing and reporting results, identifying patterns and trends in data, and defining new data collection and analysis processes.

• Identify digital solutions to improve efficiencies within the Maintenance business processes.

• Support and assist the business in achieving maximum value from the EAM/CMMS system.

• Advance the use of EAM/CMMS system functionality/capability to improve workflow and process.

• Maintain appropriate records and documentation to satisfy regulatory requirements.

• Analyze maintenance data generated by the EAM/CMMS to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance schedules.

• Develop and generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance activities, such as work order execution, equipment reliability business metrics and maintenance costs.

• Enable Asset Performance Management (APM) tools to improve the utilization of data analytics to implement predictive maintenance strategies, identifying potential equipment failures before they occur based on historical data patterns.

• Design and create visualizations and dashboards to help communicate findings and results effectively to team members.

• Uncover trends and correlations through data mining and analysis to develop insights that can improve the business and help make effective decisions.

• Collaborate and innovate with Amgen data science team to unlock new value drivers from our data.

• Partner with functional networks and site management to develop and implement equipment reliability plans.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on insights gained from data analysis, collaborating with maintenance teams to implement best practices and optimize maintenance processes.

• Collaborate with Amgen business units, site, and functional partners to deliver results; influence and communicate effectively with clients.
