We are currently in the process of expanding our operations in Caseyville with a $181 million dollar investment to add 7 new state of the art production lines to our current 4 production lines.
With automated warehousing and robotics at the heart of this expansion, the facility will be a Flagship of the Prepared Foods division. The facility currently produces Jimmy Dean and Hillshire branded retail products, and the expansion will further develop our capabilities.
Summary:
The Senior Production Manager position is responsible for effectively directing, controlling, and coordinating all aspects of plant production to maximize the long-term and short-term profitability of the company. In addition, the Sr. Production Manager position is responsible for leading plant performance improvement through lean production system design, effective problem-solving techniques, the design and management of performance improvement initiatives, and the training and coaching of plant team members to accomplish the same in coordination with the plant leadership team. This requires positively impacting employee relations by exemplifying and maintaining consistent, fair, and inclusive employment practices, legal and corporate compliance and behaviors reflective of the company’s leadership profile.
Specific responsibilities of the position will include the following items:
- Provide for the compliance and coordination of USDA/FDA and OSHA requirements.
- Inspect and maintain a high degree of competence in the areas of safety, housekeeping, sanitation, security, and food safety.
- Work cross-functionally within the plant to meet production, food safety guidelines, yields goals, and metrics goals while ensuring the maintenance of labor standards and quality of performance and product.
- Lead problem solving problem initiatives in an effective manner with timely follow up.
- Execute projects and manage to completion.
- Assist Supervisors in resolving production and employee related concerns.
- Coach front-line supervisors to manage their time, activity, and behavior to drive planned and scheduled opportunity generation and capture vs. reactive problem solving.
- Assist in the determination of manpower needs and make appropriate recommendations.
- Interpret and enforce company policies.
- Monitors plant metrics, identifies root cause for less than desirable results and demonstrate the skills and focus needed for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations ensuring the maintenance of a safe and sanitary plant in accordance with all state and federal and company regulations.
- Make recommendations, develop new manufacturing plans and implement to achieve improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain solid performance management and performance team concepts/practices to fulfill the organization’s participative management philosophy assuring that the appropriate formal management programs are instituted and followed through the entire operation.
- Performs special projects as assigned.
- Complete any additional tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Plant Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise team members in the plant.
- Plan, assign and direct work.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Interview, hire and train Team Members.
- Monitor and appraise Team Member work performance.
- Reward, coach, counsel, and discipline team members.
- Address complaints and resolve problems.
- Interpret/ utilize KPI data, and report plant performance results to leadership on a daily/weekly basis.
Position Requirements:
- Education: bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 5+ years' related experience in manufacturing. Food manufacturing experience highly preferred. This position requires an essential understanding and control of the production process, maintenance, shipping/receiving, sanitation, quality assurance, accounting, safety, and material management and is responsible for entire plant operation in the absence of the Plant Manager.
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. SAP experience is preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of Team Members within the plant and the Corporate Office. Must be capable of communicating well both verbally and in writing with government officials.
- Special Skills: Display sound judgment and decision-making, leadership, and organizational skills. Flexibility to work off hours on when required for production and related functions.
