Brown & Brown has an exciting opportunity available for a Property Insurance Broker supporting the Energy sector!

Designs, markets, and implements complex insurance programs on behalf of clients, with primary focus on property and related first-party insurance products.  Conducts strategic planning meetings with clients to discuss and recommend risk management programs.  Coordinates services between the client and the insurance company and provides day-to-day consulting and client advice.  Periodically functions as the overall Engagement Leader or Executive responsible for the account.  Delegates to others and responsible for providing leadership and potentially management to ensure all tasks are performed in a satisfactory manner by all involved. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Develops knowledge of a client’s business and industry and their specific risk profile though their business model, asset portfolio, product and cash flow, loss history, etc.  Identifies the client’s exposure to loss and the means to address them, predominately through insurance risk transfer.  Identifies tolerance to risk retention and service needs and protocols.

• Leads in the development of a marketing plan to include creation of insurance specifications, timelines, and complete market selections.

• Negotiates with underwriters on behalf of our clients to develop the best program.

• Creates & reviews insurance proposal to compare competitive insurance program options and recommend the best program for our clients. 

• Links risk identification, risk funding and service techniques to develop alternative program design strategies.

• Monitors the risk transfer process:  binder issuance, policy issuance reviews, service delivery, etc., for accuracy and timeliness.

• Reviews Renewal Information Request for accuracy.

• Develops and maintains relationships with underwriters and other service providers.  Keeps abreast of changing market conditions and innovations.

• Develops and maintains client service plans, manages mid-term changes and assists in Stewardship reviews. 

• Promptly and accurately responds to client requests.  If responsibilities are delegated, follows through to ensure client received timely response.

• Provides leadership to others on team and at company. Typically responsible for managing the work of others on the account.

• Provide performance related feedback to others and assist them with their professional development. 

• Participates in identifying new business opportunities.

• Attends Continuing Education classes. 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Able to demonstrate an expert level of knowledge with all assigned products, insurance coverages, services, policies, pricing, placement of coverage, regulations and benefits of each as well as the B&B philosophy regarding these products and services. 

• Expertise in the insurance industry with a demonstrated ability to explain B&B capabilities relative to our competitors.

• Strong knowledge of electric & gas utilities and power generation risks, specifically including conventional / fossil fueled generation (coal and natural gas), renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage) and nuclear power technologies. Prior experience working as a risk manager or in operations within a utility or power generation firm will receive preference. 

• Specific knowledge and experience in placing property insurance for utility and energy-related risks, and familiarity with key energy insurance markets and specialty underwriters in the U.S., London, Bermuda and Europe.

• Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to connect with an audience and speak persuasively and succinctly.  Demonstrates good listening skills to enhance understanding and probes effectively. 

• Strong attention to detail. 

• Strong time management skills and the ability to evaluate and prioritize multiple projects/tasks to maximize the number of internal and external clients that can be assisted while maintaining a high level of customer service. 

• Demonstrates a sense of urgency. 

• Works in a collaborative, team-oriented manner, fostering empowerment and ownership for service quality.

• Develops and maintains a working knowledge of B&B systems. 

• Understands client profitability through an understanding of income, expenses and time utilized related to specific client needs. 

• Good keyboard and PC skills using word processing and spreadsheet software, familiarity with various software applications and the ability to learn new software systems. 

• Ability to work in a team environment that is constantly changing.

Brown & Brown Insurance is seeking an Accounts Payable Associate to join our team in Minneapolis! This individual is responsible for monitoring and recording invoicing activity in accordance with established company practices and timelines. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Review company payable reports to identify items that are ready to pay
• Research missing carrier statements after client payments have been received
• Create payments to carriers, customers, and brokers by ACH, Wire and/or check
• Create final company payable report
• Enter Journal Entries as needed.
• Ensure all support for transactions is processed and filed accurately and timely in ImageRight.
• Collaborate with appropriate teams to resolve transaction inquiries
• Enforce and uphold established controls surrounding all payment processes
• Build courteous and successful relationships with various office staff to maintain efficient practices.
• Promote teamwork, support, knowledge sharing and a positive attitude in the department and office.
• Participate in training opportunities to remain current on industry information, new product development, legislation, coverages, and technology including professional development and continuing education.
• All other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Associates degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• Working knowledge of financial accounting
• Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office environment, including but not limited to Teams, Word, and Excel
• 1-3 years’ payable experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
• Insurance industry experience preferred

The Commercial Lines CSR provides customer service and works with the insurance producers from the application process to policy analysis including but not limited to endorsements, routine coverage questions, problem solving, renewal control, and preparation of formal proposals.  Maintain and update customer’s files for consistency and in accordance with agency standards.  Knowledge of basic insurance products and pricing tools are essential. This position will be supervised by the Commercial Lines Manager and will act as an assistant for the insurance producers and other management staff and provide backup/assistance to other CSR staff personnel as needed.

What You’ll Do:

• Attend self-development and continuing education courses as requested by agency including obtaining a CISR designation.
• Build, expand and solidify relationships with clients
• Maintain knowledge of best markets for renewal business and perform all necessary rating sufficient for policy quote and/or issuance
• Assist in gathering updated information, risk management recommendations, and complete applications to renew commercial accounts and to deliver proposals and renewals to the client
• Request renewals, endorsements and other needed data from the companies and insureds
• Prepare certificates, auto ID cards, endorsements, policies, lost policy releases, account summaries and account balance status as appropriate.  
• Check new and renewal polices, endorsements, and audits for accuracy and input transactions to generate billing invoices. 
• Assist producers in file reviews for additional sales opportunities and rounding out of accounts to recognize customers uninsured exposures and service needs.
• Any other duties and special projects as needed in meeting or exceeding agency goals.

What You Need::

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Licensed or able to be licensed in property/casualty
• Typing skills of at least 60 wpm
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
• High school diploma or GED
• Exceptional telephone demeanor

Preferred:

• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in business or related discipline
• 1-3 years of experience in a similar position
