About the Role Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.
Salary: £47,600 - £71,600 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

As a Supply Chain Risk Manager you will be accountable for implementing and maintaining an enhanced supplier risk management strategy across the Procurement and Commercial function to minimize and mitigate risks. The role holder will ensure that supply chain risks are fully defined and can be measured across the group and within the supply chain, utilising and embedding software to support SSE's activities. This role will also support broader sustainability drivers and ambitions and ensure the way in which SSE procures goods, works or services is conducted in a sustainable way.
This role will interact with SSE's central Procurement & Commercial team and will be responsible for providing guidance and improving the approach to supplier risk management, helping provide insights and intelligence on global supply chain activities. The role holder will also be responsible for setting standards that must be followed when purchasing goods, works or services in high-risk countries or jurisdictions and consider all aspects of risk (financial, geo-political, information security, regulatory, quality, CSR).
Key Accountabilities
- Lead & develop a documented approach on Supply Chain Risk strategy that can be adopted when operating in high-risk countries/jurisdictions that can be embedded across the Procurement & Commercial function, providing insight on any industry changes and allowing SSE to maintain a leading position in the UK and Globally.
- Develop a digital approach and the potential adoption of risk management software for supply chain to manage significant volumes of data and information so that key stakeholders (in P&C and across the business units) are kept abreast of threats in the market and what impact this may have on SSE's performance and decision making.
- Regular engagement and open support on any cross-over areas with SSE's Sustainable Procurement approach and wider business sustainability objectives, such as the impact and responsible sourcing of Critical Minerals in our industry.
- Support the wider corporate agenda on our Risk approach and provide input and guidance on supply chain activity to Group reports or strategy papers, as well as providing detail and context in critical investor briefs that are CEO led.
What do I need? - Practical experience of successfully developing and implementing a supply chain risk approach, preferably for a large and complex organisation.
- A good understanding of the supply chain risks (ESG, financial, geo-political, location based) and opportunities facing companies in the energy sector.
- Extensive project management experience, with the ability to manage numerous projects at once and work with a range of stakeholders, including supply chain partners, peers, technical specialists, and communications teams.
- Ability to read the wider market and understand areas of threat to the long-term strategy of SSE.
- Ability to define and deliver solutions to meet business challenges and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
