The role
As a Licenced Aircraft Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you'll continue to deliver airworthy and serviceable aircraft to our customer in a fast paced, challenging and real-life operational setting critical to future defence output. We work on piston engine aircraft, with carbon fibre frames. Training can be provided for any gaps.
Day to day, you'll work together in collaboration with our customer to provide aircrafts to be used in elementary flying training and air experience flights alongside auxiliary support services such as mechanical transport, air traffic control and airfield fire & crash rescue, as well as:
- Help to drive the delivery of the flying activities at RAF Woodvale alongside your Babcock and Military colleagues by taking a 'Whole Force' approach to our activities and ensuring that Babcock's excellent safety and delivery reputation is maintained at all times.
- Responsible for the generation and release to service of serviceable and safe aircraft in accordance with civilian legislation/regulation and in line with Babcock company approvals.
- Ensure aircraft engineering, line and depth maintenance and all other engineering related activities and services are provided as required to meet and exceed customer expectations and LAFT2 contractual needs at all times.
This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time, 40 hours per week and is based at RAF Woodvale
Essential experience of the Licenced Aircraft Engineer
- Supervisory experience in an aviation environment
Qualifications for the Licenced Aircraft Engineer
- EASA Part 66, B1.2 licence (or successfully passed a number of modules towards the qualification)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
