THE ROLE

We are expanding our team and have an exciting opportunity in our Singapore office, for a Trainee Ship Broker. You will be personable, tenacious and a natural networker, having a proactive approach to generating leads and securing new business.

Key responsibilities:

• Promote FIS as a company; providing market intelligence and analysis to clients
• Identify new business opportunities relating to trends, future markets and products; make regular contact with prospective new clients where appropriate
• Drive revenue and develop and enhance client base
• Understand the team’s business strategy and identify new business opportunities relating to trends, future markets, products and clients
• Undertake market analysis, providing market insight and trade ideas to clients
• Responsible for daily price discovery, dissemination and matching
• Create and write daily market reports as required
• Identify and introduce new clients to the market and maintain professional relationships
• Perform any other reasonable duties the company may require

Risk related responsibilities

• Support a risk and compliance aware culture and comply with FIS company policies
• Ensure full awareness of and adhere to internal policies that relate to the role or any relevant other activities

Training

• Seek regular feedback from Desk Head to ensure role requirements are met
• Complete any mandatory training required by the company and required deadlines
• Maintain own Continued Professional Development (CPD)

• Demonstrate understanding of Dry Cargo shipbroking
• Strong client focus; personable and engaging building relationships and networks wherever possible
• Good understanding of Dry Cargo markets – essential
• Experience in Handymax / Supramax or Panamax vessels

Job Description

• Inspect and repair passenger seats, galleys, and lavatories and maintain aircraft conditions
• Install cabin interior components into commercial aircraft, including seat tracks, overhead bins, galleys, side panels, bulkheads, etc.
• Maintain luggage storage area in a neat and organized manner
• Maintain inventory items required for handling the cleaning activities
• Maintain the quality of the aircraft interiors on the operated fleet
• Maintain the interior and exterior cleaning standards on the operating fleet
• Perform other duties as assigned by your superior

Job Requirements

• Minimum Higher Nitec or Diploma in Engineering/Aviation.
• No working experience is needed
• Able to communicate effectively verbally in writing in standard English.
• Ability to perform tasks in high-noise areas and work at height
• Able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Candidate must attend a 6 to 9-month Cabin Trainee Technician course (including On the Job Training) with assessment followed by 12-months bond. Only those who pass the assessment will be offered employment for the role.

• Pathways Internship positions provide for development and training. Assignments become more responsible as incumbent increases knowledge and skills through work experience and academic training. At the full-performance level, you will be expected to:
• Utilize computers to provide basic analyses and develop models and simulations of materiel systems
• Identifies and reports errors, inconsistencies and any other deficiencies in technical data encountered in assignments requiring a knowledge of the methods by which the data were derived, and the possible sources of the errors.
• Assist senior engineers and/or supervisor with governing documents to become familiar with the mission and technical responsibilities of the office.
