PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Signing Bonus: New employees are eligible for a $5,000 bonus; with $2,500 paid on the first payroll, and $2,500 paid upon completion of six month introductory period from hire date.
Salary to be Commensurate with experience
The Hiring range for this position is $85,346.62-$106,683.28
The Salary range for this position is $85,346.62-$133,354.10

POSITION OVERVIEW:
City of Aurora is looking for a motivated self-starter to serve as a Project Engineer for transportation capital improvement projects as part of the Transportation Project Delivery Group of the Engineering Services Division of the Public Works Department. Project Engineers’ primary responsibilities are transportation project management, design development and construction management.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, reviews, develops, and coordinates the design and construction of utility, roadway, and drainage projects from project conception to completion, including coordination with various federal and state agencies
Designer and engineer of record for transportation projects as assigned
Designs systems and prepares project plans and specifications related to capital improvement projects
Prepares and/or reviews plans, cost estimates, specifications, and procurement documents
Solicits, manages and provides guidance to Engineering Consultants procured for project delivery
Develops conceptual designs and cost estimates for the purposes of project planning
Responds to citizen complaints and inquiries regarding transportation-related projects
Monitors and controls construction progress and expenditures
Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
Experience:
At least four (4) years of experience in civil engineering, transportation or a related field;
At least two (2) years of experience in municipal engineering work
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Considerable knowledge of current engineering principles and practices applicable to municipal engineering projects
Local, state and federal laws and regulations related to roadway, drainage, erosion control, and utility relocation
Skills:
Strong interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills
Skills in the use of field and office engineering instruments and equipment including a personal computer and related software
Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Make decisions and solve complex technical problems
Interpret municipal codes and criteria
Use computer design software in engineering projects design and review
Work effectively with other employees, outside agencies, contractors, and citizens
