SALARY $47,242.00 - $54,139.00 Annually

ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.
PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
Some positions in the class of CDL Driver II oversees and gives directions to a crew of semi-skilled workers or crews of laborers. Some positions in this class may be required to drive and operate vehicles or trucks of all weights and sizes, to include large bulldozers, backhoes, cranes, graders, feller bunchers, prentice loaders, transit mix trucks, or trucks equipped for street painting, cable installation, sign installation, parking meter installation, and roadway maintenance. Works of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities, but some positions require lead responsibilities.
Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employee in the class work a conventional work week which may require and/or include evenings, weekends, holidays or rotating basis, callback duty or hold over for emergency situations and some positions may be required for 24-hour call back as required for emergencies. Work for some of positions assigned to this class is performed at outdoors at highways, grounds or utility maintenance work sites or landfills, in vehicles and at construction or maintenance work sites or in a work shop and at repair sites where there is exposure to inclement weather, heights, high voltage and manhole work, welding fumes and dusty work spaces, odor, noise, dust, traffic, and possible exposure to toxic chemical. Some positions in this class requires moderate to strenuous physical activity to include bending, standing, climbing, stooping, crawling, climbing, reaching and lifting heavy objects,

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
EDUCATION: Graduation from and accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Some positions require 3 years of experience performing laboring tasks including 1 year of such lead responsibilities as assigning, reviewing and approving the work of others, or 3 years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of exterior lighting systems or 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance installation or repair work or in building construction electrical work, or 3 years of experience in the operation of earth moving, logging, highway or utility maintenance equipment experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES: Positions in the class require a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver’s license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required and eligibility to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit is required.
Positions in the class may require a valid Maryland Class A or B Commercial driver’s license or an equivalent out-of-state driver’s license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required and eligibility to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit is required.
NOTE: Some positions may be required to obtain and maintain a current Pesticide Regulation License as required by the Maryland Department of Agriculture within six months of employment.
