This Graduate Science Teaching Assistant role will see the successful candidate joining a supportive Science department and supporting the teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4. The school have identified several students across the age range who require extra motivation and support and are looking for a Science Graduate to support these students. You will be working directly with the Head of Science, who will be utilising your specialist degree knowledge to support with pupils across Key Stage 3, 4 & 5. This Science Teaching Assistant vacancy will see the successful graduate working on a 1:1 and small group intervention basis to improve their attainment and progress.

The school are keen to meet a Science Graduate who has a great academic record including at least a 2.1 in their degree. The successful Science Teaching Assistant will possess the personality and work-ethic that sees them establish themselves as a role model to students. For this graduate Science Tutor position, previous experience supporting students academically or in more informal settings is highly advantageous.

You will be provided with training, support, and the necessary tools you would need in rider to succeed and to make a positive difference within the department and the pupils learning. The Headteacher is fully supportive of all Teaching Assistants and will make sure the school do everything they can to prepare you fully, before embarking on your PGCE next year.

The candidate must be a highly motivated teacher with the energy and enthusiasm needed to inspire our students to achieve their maximum potential. We would require the successful candidate to be able to teach Science to Key Stage 3, 4 and a possibility of Key Stage 5 students. We are looking to recruit a new HR Coordinator to join our friendly team. We provide professional HR support to the Faculty of Human, Social and Political Science, the Department of History and Philosophy of Science and the Department of Land Economy.

Responsibilities include:

Advising on HR policy, procedure and best practice on employment relations issues such as staff welfare, disciplinary/grievance, terms and conditions of employment (e.g. holiday entitlement, sick leave, maternity/ paternity leave, compassionate leave, leave of absence, hours of work, pay scales)
Coordinating and managing recruitment campaigns, from writing role descriptions, advising on selection criteria, advertising and interview activity, through to preparing recruitment documentation and being responsible for implementing right to work, visa and immigration processes as well as global mobility policies
Coordinating probation and appraisal procedures
General administration relating to payroll, leave entitlements, sickness, holiday etc.
Collating and analysing HR and payroll data
You will:

have experience of HR administration, knowledge of employment law and be able to work well with a wide range of people; be confident in giving advice and be able to interpret and explain University policies and procedures
be a skilled communicator, a diplomat, a problem solver and able to handle competing demands on your time. The ability to plan time-sensitive work and attention to detail is critical
be educated to HND/HNC level, level 4/5 vocational qualification or an equivalent level of practical experience
