Established in 2007, the SMU School of Social Sciences (SOSS) provides high quality undergraduate and graduate education expanding SMU’s pedagogical strategy to the study of society, government, and individuals embedded within an increasingly complex world. Sustainability is also a key focus for SOSS for our undergraduate program in Sustainable Societies as well as the Master of Sustainability (MST) launched in 2024. The new position will form a key part of the plans to consolidate the School of Social Science’s interdisciplinary contribution to research and teaching in sustainability.

Position:

The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) invites applications for an open rank (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor) tenure track position in Sustainability, with a specific focus on environmental policy and governance, sustainable development, or environmental sociology to begin in July of 2025. The School is particularly interested in environmental social scientists with an established research and teaching repertoire or high potential for scholarly work on topics related to sustainability, including collaborative governance, the water-energy-food nexus, natural resource management, climate institutions and partnerships, and sustainability governance and analytics. Those with a research focus involving Asia are especially encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate a high level of social science research excellence, appropriate to the rank of position to which they are applying.

• Maintain cleanliness of the two labs and the equipment  Arrange for feeding of the fish in the aquaponics system (both indoor and outdoor), pond at eco-garden

The Women’s Health Research Centre (WHRC) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust / Imperial College London is at the forefront of research aimed at improving outcomes and experiences in women's reproductive health and childbirth.

At the current time, WHRC is looking to appoint a Clinical Research Assistant Practitioner to work on the Generation Study which is sponsored by Genomics England. The study focuses on screening neonates for approximately 200 rare conditions at birth using umbilical cord blood. The postholder will assist with sample collection, data management and registration of participants whilst adhering to the principles of GCP. The role will also involve ordering consumables and supporting the research team with participant recruitment.

The postholder of this new role will work within the WHRC research team and be able to develop specialist research skills with new opportunities in a vibrant and dynamic environment. You'll be working for an international firm specialising in tracing missing and unknown beneficiaries to unclaimed estates, property, and assets worldwide. We will workwith specific customers so we can build useful applications on top of that infrastructure.You will contribute to the design and development of open-source software written to serve those use cases.You will work as part of a team of research engineers, developers, and domain expertise and you will beexpected to actively participate in team meetings and text-based communications. You will be expected to beactive members of the applied research community, by validating and contributing to advances incomputational law.

You may be asked to conduct use-inspired research at the direction of the Principal Investigator. This includes

• reading academic papers, standards publications, and related material such as blog posts and presentations;
• coming up to speed in fields which may be new to you, such as computational linguistics, mathematical logic, programming language design, formal verification, and model-based architecture;
• reading (and updating/commenting, relevant) existing software documentation;
• creating presentations, video recordings, walkthroughs, etc. to document and explain research work done;
• writing (and presenting, if so decided by the PI) academic papers and materials for publication; and
• documenting in a sufficiently-detailed manner so as to share what you've learned.

You will be expected to participate in software development; this includes

• learning how to use third party tools, including editors, IDEs, databases, business process modeling software, programming languages, and libraries;
• evaluating competing software systems for suitability;
• building infrastructure to enable application development;
• managing yourself, and managing fellow team members;
• engaging in product, project, and program management as needed;
• reading books and consuming such other media forms about software development;
• writing documentation such as user/developer-facing manuals, tutorials;
• delivering community support to users and customers;
• preparing presentations to represent the project before external audiences; and
• writing actual user-facing applications throughout the "full stack", in each case, documenting, reporting, and/or presenting the same in clearly and efficiently, both internally and externally.

QUALIFICATIONS

Researchers under the Programme should possess both mastery of their academic speciality, and demonstrated practical experience producing and supporting high-quality open-source code throughcommunity engagement across multiple media. Candidates must have Bachelor's, Master's, Ph.D., or alternative qualifications in computer science, software engineering, (symbolic) artificial intelligence, computational linguistics, or formal methods.

Fluency in multiple natural languages, and any experience with law, are a plus.
