The NCRF Infrastructure sits within Newcastle University and encompasses the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at our Royal Victoria Infirmary site, the Clinical Ageing Research Unit (CARU) at our CAV site, the Dental CRF in our Dental Hospital and the Pediatric CRF which is co-located within our RVI site. We operate mainly as an outpatient facility with patients usually attending between Monday and Friday although occasional evening and weekend working is required as studies dictate. The CRF specialises in early phase clinical trials as well as supporting complex later phase studies. We often support international trials and due to the nature of early phase research we are working with new and groundbreaking therapies, in specialty areas such as respiratory, rheumatology, mitochondrial research, and gene therapy. This role requires an individual with excellent organizational and communication skills, effective time management, basic IT skills, knowledge of data collection systems and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. This work will all be conducted remotely using the suite of Google Applications (Docs and Sheets) and time management software to track completion.

The work is expected to take approximately 20 hours to complete (in total) and must be delivered within 4 weeks of the agreed start date. We empower students and their studies by providing highly engaging small-group tutoring designed to prepare them for school assessments and final exams. Our sessions are presented by experienced but young tutors that can teach the study design in a simple and intuitive yet engaging way. Opportunity to Tutor Groups

Have you ever wanted to do group tutoring but never got the time or students to? Maybe you’ve been doing one-on-one tutoring so far, and now you want to explore group tutoring? As a VCE tutor at Contour, rather than tutoring one student at a time, you can now motivate groups of students with your knowledge and experience without the hassle of more admin work and finding students.

Access to High-Quality Tutoring Material

You’ve probably spent hundreds of unpaid hours making tutoring resources for your students. We know it can be an extremely time-consuming process, and arguably one of the more boring and tedious parts of being a tutor. But that’s where we come in! We’ve spent thousands of hours creating resources and detailed notes for VCE subjects. All we need now is you—the tutor!

All you have to do is prepare for your tutoring session by reading over the class workbooks beforehand, and provide an excellent tutoring experience to your students :)

Competitive Pay and Compensation

We pride ourselves on compensating and rewarding our tutors for their hard work. The starting rate ranges from $130 to $210 per 2-hour class (incl. Super) depending on the size of the classes you take. The rates can only get higher as you pick up more classes, show dedication to Contour, and contribute to the success of your students!

We're also introducing a new compensation model in 2024 where you'll also share part of the revenue generated by your classes. We want you to feel rewarded for introducing students to Contour and doing a great job at making them happy, so if Contour grows, you'll grow with it!

In some circumstances, if you already have private students but want to transfer them over to Contour, we can potentially even provide payouts so you can move all your tutoring work to us. Win-win!

Minimal Admin Work

There is almost no requirement for admin work.All you have to do is take simple attendance, manage student emails, and address student questions promptly outside of class via social media/text/email. If you’d like to create additional resources for us or do more non-tutoring work, we can also organise tailored payment plans to suit your needs :)

Support & Personal Development

Working in a collaborative environment and an energetic team can be a fantastic opportunity to hone your skills and learn so much along the way! When you work with us, you’ll also have the chance to learn from tutors who have spent thousands of hours tutoring and have garnered years of experience, perfecting their craft.

That's why we need your help! We’re looking for a creative, organised and determined person to support our content team in the crafting and publishing of our world-class science resources. As a Science Content Coordinator, you'll be working closely with the science content team, design team and engineering teams to assist in the creation, rollout, and maintenance of our suite of digital and print products. You'll oversee updates and reprints of our print product, co-ordinate regular releases of our digital products, and liaise with student testers and teachers, subject matter experts and career profilists to ensure our resources are bullet-proof before they get into the classroom.

How you'll spend your time

This role will vary from day to day. It will always be interesting but might include: 

• Working side-by-side with our ‘dream team’ of writers, teachers, simulation designers, illustrators, animators and editors to make the best science resource in the known universe.
• Rolling out new engineering delights in our libraries to ensure teachers and students always have access to our most up-to-date content and features. 
• Working closely with the Head of Curriculum and Pedagogy to assist in the writing and publishing of teacher resources.
• Supporting our amazing video production team in writing scripts, testing labs and coordinating filming on set. You may even be asked to step in front of the camera from time to time!
• Raving on about the latest and coolest science news with other “science nerds” in our communal kitchen at lunchtime.
• Coordinating and facilitating in-house and on-site student testing sessions for our work-in-progress resources and fostering a great sense of community with one of our main stakeholder groups.

Hours and location

This is a full-time, permanent role with some flexible work hours.
