Job title: Business Adviser
Salary: £38,000 to £42,000 per annum (dependant on experience and qualifications)
Based at: Derby or Nottingham with agile working. Additional travel required
Contract: Fixed term until 31 March 2025, full time (35 hours per week)
1. WHY THE POST EXISTS
As the UK moves into a new era for the business support landscape following the launch of the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund, it is an exciting time to help businesses seize the opportunities available to them and to help them meet the challenges and demands of running a business.
As part of the Business Adviser team, the role will aid businesses across the East Midlands – in particular to support the Gedling and Derby City projects – to develop by offering high-quality business advice and support services.
Our Advisers are individuals who want to make a real difference to business performance and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to help East Midlands businesses to flourish.
2. THE KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Carry out structured diagnostics with clients, agreeing an action plan, offering advice and/or brokering support as appropriate using a Balanced Scorecard.
- Where appropriate deliver independent advice and practical support to businesses.
- Build positive relationships with clients, partners, local authority partners and networks to Account manage their journey.
- Maintain records of all relevant documentation to meet quality and contractual requirements.
3. IDEALLY APPLICANTS WILL POSSESS
- Relevant and demonstrable experience working with customers in a business advisory capacity.
- A good understanding of business – working with businesses, including resilience and the barriers to growing a business.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Skills in and experience of social media (including Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook platforms).
- Build and maintain relationships with economic development partners such as local authorities, networks, membership organisations and business support providers.
