About Us: Chardi Kala Farm is a thriving agricultural operation committed to sustainable farming practices. Located in the beautiful region of Lanitza, NSW, our farm specializes in both crop production and livestock management.
Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mixed Crop Farmer to join our team at Chardi Kala Farm. The role involves planning and coordinating the production and marketing of crops and livestock, managing daily farm operations, and ensuring the health and well-being of our livestock.
Key Responsibilities:
• Production Planning: Plan and coordinate the production and marketing of crops and livestock to meet business goals.
• Livestock Management: Breed and raise livestock for meat, wool, skins, milk, or eggs production, ensuring their health and well-being.
• Crop Production: Grow grain, seed crops, vegetables, fruit, or nuts with a focus on achieving high-quality yields.
• Health Monitoring: Monitor and maintain livestock health, ensuring proper nutrition and care.
• Resource Management: Select and purchase seeds, plan breeding programs, and manage pastures and fodder supplies.
• Farm Operations: Oversee general farming activities such as fertilizing, pest and weed control, and maintaining farm buildings, fences, equipment, and water supply systems.
• Sales and Marketing: Organize the sale, purchase, and transportation of livestock and produce, optimizing profitability.
• Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of farming activities, monitor market trends, and adjust production plans accordingly.
• Business Management: Manage farm capital and resources efficiently to meet financial and production targets.
• Staff Supervision: Select, train, and supervise staff and contractors to ensure smooth farm operations.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Agriculture or a related field. Alternatively, at least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in mixed crop farming or a similar role.
Skills:
• Strong expertise in crop and livestock production.
• Proven ability to manage farm operations efficiently.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
• Sound understanding of market trends and business management.
