OVERVIEW
At CNBC, we offer TV packages on the global economy and international business to the business channel of China State Broadcaster. We are looking for a News Assistant to join our team and help our reporter create Chinese-language content.
In this role, you will provide editorial support to our show production teams, focusing on Chinese content for CCTV platforms. Your tasks will include assisting with research, cutting and logging videos, building graphics, basic segment production and guest booking. You will start learning about Asian business and markets, and the fundamentals of journalism, and you will have opportunity to work on CNBC Asia Pacific’s live English TV programming.
This role is ideal for candidates starting a career in journalism and TV news production, with keen interest in business and current affairs. Strong candidates include those pursuing degrees in journalism, communications, media, business or economics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate closely with teams in China and Singapore to ensure all content is broadcast-ready
- Translate, coordinate and verify scripts between Chinese and English languages accurately
- Work with video editors to cut videos and ensure content aligns with scripts for CCTV reports
- Create graphics and data boards using CNBC’s in-house applications and coordinate with Graphics team to generate high-quality visuals that supplement news stories
- Produce accurate interview transcripts in Chinese language for CCTV reports
- Draft short pitches in Chinese language for CCTV
- Conduct research on stories as required
- Assist the reporter with logistics, guest coordination, and post-filming editing for outside filming assignments
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Proficient in written and spoken Chinese and English languages for writing and editing Chinese and English scripts and effectively communicate with and pitch to China-based client groups
- Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure live news environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proven ability to manage a wide variety of tasks while performing efficiently and accurately under tight deadlines
- Flexible and willing to occasionally work different shifts when required
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
- A keen interest in business news, economics, and financial markets
- Prior internship experience in TV News Production and/or financial sector
- A strong passion for broadcasting, media, and content production
