An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Business Unit Accountant to join our Finance team within the Surgery Division here at University Hospital of Derby and Burton. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to work in a fast moving Management Accounts Team.

This is an ideal opportunity for individuals working towards an accountancy qualification who are looking for development in a large Acute Trust. The department offers excellent development opportunities to build and enhance skills.

The role will support the Business Unit Accountants across the division, you will assist the team in providing comprehensive financial support to our wide range of clinical and non-clinical services.

The Finance team have a hybrid working arrangement of a minimum of two days based in the office at the Royal Derby and Queen's Hospital Burton sites, and the ability to book additional days if required on either site.

The main responsibilities will be to produce accurate and timely monthly statements and to assist the Business Unit Accountant in investigating and explaining financial variances. You would be expected to work autonomously to understand the drivers of the variances, presenting them to clinical and non-clinical staff. Whilst actively seeking solutions and escalating those issues accordingly. This knowledge will be gained through regular meetings with budget holders working in clinical and nonclinical areas, which is key to the role.

Forecasting is an integral part of this role and you would be responsible for populating and presenting this to the Business Unit Accountant on a monthly basis.

Budget Setting is an annual process for this role, supporting the Business Unit accountant to determine the budget for the following year. Team work is essential in this role and when necessary to cover and support colleagues. Excellent people skills are a requirement when working with both finance and non-finance colleagues across the organisation.

The successful candidate needs to be hard working and dependable, have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able prioritise own workload to achieve deadlines. Also needs to be computer literate with a good working knowledge of Excel. A proven history of working in a Financial Management setting is essential

Outline of the role

The Retail Apprenticeship will involve working in our store as a full -time team member, helping with every aspect of creating a great customer experience and learning about how a retailer operates their business. It is a great experience working in a fast-paced and fun environment that will prepare you for even bigger challenges. Savers Sales Assistants are extremely important to us, we recognise that you could be our Supervisors of tomorrow. We will actively develop your skills and offer real career progression supported by our excellent in-house training.

Duties will include:

· Demonstrating exceptional customer service

· Understanding the business and maintaining the brand reputation

· Resolving customer queries

· Using knowledge to promote products to customers

· Highlighting promotional offers to work towards achieving sales targets

· Supporting promotion changes and stock rotation

Your training will take place in store over the 1st 12 months so, no college days and no homework! At the end of your training period you will complete a discussion around your experiences, a multiple -choice test and an observation within your role. You will be supported throughout by your team and your assessor to achieve your Retailer Level 2 Apprenticeship

You qualify if ...

· You have a grade 4 / C GCSE (or equivalent) in English and maths

· You are not currently in any form of education and you are available for full time shifts

· You HAVEN’T completed a Retail Apprenticeship before

· You have not completed a degree or more than 1 year at University

· You are eligible to work in the UK

· You are brand new to retail

Pay rate: £7.60 per hour

Hours: 39 hours a week on a 13 month contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and proficient Business Support Officer to work with Public Health and Health and Justice commissioners. This post will be embedded within the Midlands H&J Commissioning team, working in a hybrid way, combining home working with some travel to meetings and our Sexual Abuse and Referral (SARC) services across the region.

You will be required to be a proactive team player in a fast paced and dynamic team. You will need to be a professional administrator. You will support the SARC commissioning team but work flexibly to support the wider Health and Justice team as required. Working both as a team member and independently, you will be able to multitask, work under pressure to meet deadline, and handle confidential information with care

· Provide high quality administration support taking minutes and providing project management support

· Undertake information/project analysis.

· Maintain data collection systems for its effective use by the team.

· Support the continual improvement of an end-to-end commissioning and contract management processes

· Support the senior team and Commissioning Manager(s) in managing the range of Custodial and non-custodial contracts within the Health & Justice portfolio.

You will be organised and conscientious with the ability to work under pressure, planning and co-ordinating workloads to meet deadlines. A common-sense approach to work is important, as well as being able to handle sensitive information in a professional manner. The post holder will be required to have a good level of competency in using, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

The post requires excellent communication and organisational skills and for the successful candidate to work effectively in a close team setting, having the ability to plan and prioritise their own workload and work flexibly in response to service needs.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications

Educated to NVQ 4 level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience

Knowledge and experience

Significant administrative/ secretarial experience including support to contract review processes, initiating and maintaining office systems.

Intermediate knowledge of IT systems and software programmes such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

Knowledge of Health and Justice NHS issues



Skills Capabilities & Attributes

Clear communicator with excellent writing, data entry and presentation skills: capable of constructing and delivering clear information/ instructions to staff and service users

Key point of contact for a number of important meetings and so you will be confident in dealing with a range of people including clinical and non-clinical leaders and senior stakeholders.

Co-ordinating and facilitating meetings, either face to face or via conferencing facilities, prepare and distributing meeting papers and agendas, minute taking skills, taking appropriate follow-up actions as required
