Job Description:
Certification Technical Directorate (CTD) within the Airworthiness & Certification Department at Airbus India is looking for an experienced engineer who can be developed into a Designated Airworthiness Engineer (DAE) in Structure, Electrical & Mechanical Systems Installations perimeter in Airbus India, Bengaluru.
Working closely with CTD in Europe, Certification Engineer will exercise privileges under Airbus Design Organization Approval (DOA) granted by European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and ensure the certification of design modifications of aircraft. He / She will manage aircraft type certification, type validation, the approval of changes to the type certificate and supports continued airworthiness of the customer fleet in compliance with airworthiness regulations and Airbus policies.
1IAAS, Structures & Hydromechanical Certification team covers the entire structural activities within Airbus (Fuselage, Wing, Rear Fuselage) and the entire hydro-mechanical systems (Flight Controls, High Lift Systems, Hydraulic, Landing Gear and Doors). It is a transnational department with teams located in France, Germany, Spain and the UK and is composed of Airworthiness Engineers, Certification Manager and Expert in the field of Airworthiness Structure and Hydro-mechanical.
As the jobholder, you will interact with the Structure and Hydro-mechanical department in the different entities of Airbus commercial in France, Germany and the UK.
TASK:
The scope of these structure airworthiness & certification activities will cover post-TC minor and major changes, from Airworthiness change classification to approval of the changes.
Example of changes considered (list not exhaustive) are:
- Changes to the primary and secondary structure in fuselage and wing
- Changes in the Systems installation in the fuselage and wing
- Changes in the paintings of the fuselage and wing
As the jobholder, you will be working with the support of experienced engineers to act as an Airworthiness Mod Leader leading the certification of the change and to be trained to become DAE (Designated Airworthiness Engineer) for Minor Changes and develop to Major Changes.
As the jobholder, you will exercise the Minor change approval legal privileges granted by EASA to Airbus in full compliance with Part 21 and Design Organization Approval (DOA) requirements maintaining the Airbus privileges for design approval. You will ensure timely approval of structural changes, systems installation and paints changes to ensure satisfaction of our customers on all programs (design changes targeted for initial aircraft deliveries as well as in service aircraft).
You will ensure the certification of the change on quality, time and cost, reporting to the head of teams within the Structures & Hydro-mechanical domain.
You will guarantee the Airworthiness of the design changes defined by Airbus, reporting to the airworthiness issues to the heads of teams within the Airworthiness Structure & Hydro-mechanical domain and to the programs Chief Airworthiness Engineer (CAE).
The main tasks of your activities as Designated Airworthiness Engineer (DAE) will be as follows:
- Take the leadership of the changes (mod), as an Airworthiness Mod Leader or/and DAE, according to the allocation in the Mod certification tool (Aircam)
- Review the change dossier coming from the Design Office to classify the change with regard to part 21 criteria and to record it within Airbus tool (ACC2)
- For Minor changes:
- Appraise the design change, identify the applicable certification requirements within Airbus tool (ICC) and verify the compliance to applicable requirements provided by the Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE), if relevant
- Complete the Modification Approval Summary (MAS) in order to approve the Change within ICC, as Designated Airworthiness Engineer (DAE) or communicate specific refusal to the CVE and Design responsible
- Record the Change approval in Airbus tool (ACC2)
- Archive the certification dossier through Aircam,
- To extend the validity of a Minor modification to a further model, with or without additional demonstration of compliance
- Contact Structure & Hydro-mechanical Department when a change is to be classified major
- Report progress and potential issues to Structure & Hydro-mechanical Department
You will develop the Airworthiness and technical knowledge of the structure / systems covering the various changes you will have to lead and approve as Airworthiness Mod Leader/DAE. Those changes will cover most of Airbus commercial aircraft programs requiring a knowledge on all concerned programs in term of airworthiness requirements as well as technical design.
SKILLS:
We are looking for a person with the following skills and experience:
- Excellent teammate but still able to work autonomously
- Very good communications/relationships skills to interface and collaborate in an international environment
- The ability to deliver using persuasion, negotiation and influence
- A background in Structure and Systems Installation, particularly Stress and F&DT,
- Some Airworthiness & Certification experience is an advantage, but not essential
- Able to quickly understand and synthetize technical topics and deliver a clear message
- A degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent.
- Ideally a Chartered Engineer, or working towards achieving Chartered status
