This is an exciting role here at the Brandon Trust to join our support services area and an opportunity to gain skills and experience in both business management and charity governance.
In this role, you’ll assist the Governance and Impact Manager to lead the development and delivery of a business management function for Brandon which will support the effective running of the organisation. You will be part of a small and dynamic team who will be key partners to the Board of Trustees and the Executive Leadership Team.
This is a full-time role where you will be required to work both from home and in our office based in Bristol at least 2-3 days per week.
About the role
The Business Support Officer will play a vital role in supporting Brandon’s performance and governance architecture and all associated systems and processes. This will mean providing high quality administrative and business support to key performance and governance forums. The postholder will work closely with different members of the Executive Leadership Team to prepare for meetings, arrange agendas, collate papers and reports, and ensure accurate minutes are taken and actions are logged and followed through.
This role is vital in Brandon’s planning process through which our strategy is translated into plans and projects. This means supporting the development and implementation of plans and monitoring key performance indicators, measures and outcomes.
Key responsibilities of the role are:
- To support the smooth delivery of business management and administration processes throughout the organisation
- To assist the Governance and Impact Manager to ensure that key business management and governance processes are being undertaken on a consistent and timely basis
- To develop and deploy tools for leaders and managers across Brandon that can support the integrity and availability of up to date and timely business information
- To support senior leaders in improving critical business processes that will enhance performance or better manage organisational risks
- To assist the Governance and Impact Manager in developing and maintaining a governance framework, incorporating Board and Committee meetings, Executive Leadership Performance and Business meetings, accurate minute taking and maintaining action logs and supporting risk management processes
- To support the development of key reports ensuring that they are written and compiled effectively for key audiences internally and externally
- To maintain key governance registers and processes
- To plan and deliver activities to support policy compliance
- To work flexibly to provide support for specific organisational projects as and when required
About you
You would have experience operating in a small team and engaging confidently with senior managers and stakeholders, along with experience in multi-tasking and supporting the delivery of basic projects working in an environment in which deadlines are essential.
- Able to manage a high and varied workload through good planning, prioritisation and delegation
- Excellent organisational and administration skills
- Ability to engage with key stakeholders and deal with people at all levels within the organisation
- Excellent computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Good written and verbal communication skills including minute-taking
- Ability to schedule and track time sensitive tasks and deadlines
- Attention to detail
- Accurate proof-reading skills with ability to ensure documents meet professional standards in relation to spelling, grammar and formatting
- Solution orientated and able to take initiative
