This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Head Of Quality, Governance and Patient Safety who will take the lead role in the organisation ensuring that appropriate governance management processes are in place at both service and organisational level to ensure compliance with our regulatory framework. Job Summary: The Head of Quality, Governance and Patient Safety is a significant role in ensuring the quality of the organisation’s services working closely with the Chief Nurse and other Directors, to provide a robust clinical governance framework that enables good outcomes and patient safety. The postholder will support the Registered Manager (Chief Nurse) and the Nominated Individual (Hospital Director) by leading patient safety and regulatory activities and responsibilities, be knowledgeable and highly experienced in delivering excellence in healthcare, and passionate about driving the quality and governance agenda forward to promote safe care, positive patient experiences, and effective risk management. Role Responsibilities include: The Head of Quality, Governance and Patient Safety will have operational and organisational management of the Quality Management System (QMS), including development and implementation of the Quality, Governance and Safety strategies. This will be across all locations including Sevenoaks Medical Centre and outreach environments. To have strategic responsibility for the quality improvement agenda. Ensure that the organisation has robust assurance processes in place for undertaking self-assessments and evidence collection in line with compliance status. Lead on the identification of areas requiring improvement to reach an acceptable compliance level for registration and to advise relevant leadership teams accordingly. Accountable for the development and implementation of a compliance framework, ensuring that the organisation is achieving the standards required for CQC registration Ensure systems and processes are in place to respond to Care Quality Commission information and inspection requests Lead on the identification of areas requiring improvement to reach an acceptable compliance level for registration and to advise relevant leadership teams accordingly. Oversight of the implementation of CQC recommendations and monitor delivery of improvement plans. Ensure that risk assessments are applied systematically across the organisation and that the organisation is in a position to be assessed against the regulations. Keep abreast of developments in regulatory standards and advise the Executive Team accordingly. Qualifications, professional experience skills and knowledge As a professional head of department working across the organisation with considerable freedom to act and an ability to apply policy and procedures to different situations, the post-holder will have expert/specialist knowledge in delivery of a QMS. You will also be a strong team member who is able to gain trust and support from colleagues and stakeholders at all levels. Essential Extensive knowledge and experience of governance, regulation, quality improvement, patient safety and audit Significant knowledge of clinical effectiveness and corporate governance and its application. Experience working at a senior level within the independent sector Experience of Quality Management systems in the UK healthcare environment A clear understanding of healthcare specific assurance and improvement tools. Able to analyse data, and devise reports Experience of the relevant regulatory systems and compliance, including CQC etc. Experience of incident and complaints management Excellent interpersonal skills Desirable Project management PRINCE 2 Recognised Management qualification Experience of using Datix system Other Key Attributes Demonstrates understanding of and fit with the KIMS values. Energetic, achievement focused and willing to work hard under pressure. Strong team building skills with a collaborative approach to achieving goals. Commercial understanding of the private healthcare sector. Demonstrate ability to build credibility with key stakeholders including senior management, consultants and other external bodies.
