• Assisting the development of the first line control management centre of excellence that supports safe growth and enables high quality customer service.
• Delivering prescribed outcomes by working with established control design, mapping, monitoring and testing approaches. Reporting findings to senior colleagues.
• Assisting in the management of actions on operational risk events and breaches following Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA). Identifying issues and then suggesting and implementing improvements to the control environment with guidance from senior colleagues.

What you'll need

We're looking for someone who can apply Operational knowledge of our Consumer Lending business unit sufficiently to be able to support a range of processes relating to implementation of the Risk Taxonomy, RCSA management and control execution. Ideally with experience in a related field (eg audit or risk & control management) or, alternatively, having gained capability through experience in a similar function along with:

• Control management - experience of data-led control management and its practical implementation. Good organisational skills to support the preparation of documentation that includes summarising data and information to produce and maintain standardised risk and control process maps. Ability to provide support to the ongoing development of control tooling solutions to enable optimisation and automation of the control environment.
• Data & Analytics- ability to understand and assimilate different sources of data and complex information to support with effective problem solving that leads to relevant conclusions and recommendations. This assistant manager role is within our Control Design & Optimisation team which is a core part of the Consumer Lending Chief Controls Office. The Control office team are focussed on simplifying, optimising, and automating controls, leveraging new technology, supporting Consumer Lending to achieve its goals and unlocking the potential to go faster for our customers.

What you'll need

We're looking for someone who can support a range of activities relating to end to end process mapping and documentation, identifying gaps and understanding where automation is possible. Ideally with experience in a related field (e.g. audit or risk & control management) or, alternatively, having gained capability through experience in a similar function along with:

• An analytical and inquisitive mentality with a background in problem solving
• End to End Risk and Control mapping - Delivering prescribed outcomes by working with established control design, mapping, monitoring and testing approaches. Along with mapping existing controls to applicable risks, identifying any controls which are key. As well as identifying issues or gaps within the business processes and then suggesting and implementing improvements to the control environment with guidance from senior colleagues.
• Control by Design (CbD) - Understanding of the CbD approach and key deliverables of each stage and facilitating the mapping and identification of opportunities to embed automated controls at the design stage.
• RCSA - Experience using the RCSA system and working with risk and control owner teams to help deliver against aligned customer, business and strategic outcomes. Working with risk and control owner teams to investigate questions related to the existing control environment.

The role

As a Senior EC&I Designer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The Senior Designer provides support and technical guidance for a team of designers. The role will assure the quality of output to the required standards consistent with whole lifecycle from concept to in service support.

Day-to-day, you'll provide specialist technical advice and guidance to other designers, providing design governance for technical standards for a team. You'll work with a high degree of technical autonomy and promote effective co-operation across Design and other functional teams.

• Allocate discipline tasks to allocated team of Designers, check team drawing outputs, and ensure inter discipline coordination in accordance with company and regulatory standards
• Assist in effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and such that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress
• Contribute to the preparation/production of drawings in support of basic, detail and production design in line with recognised ISO standards and to the required; time, cost and quality requirements.
• Assist in the resolution of Production & Technical Queries & development of discipline solutions for the team in relation to manufacturing & installation issues
• Develop innovative design solutions, and fulfil Design Lead responsibilities as assigned for multi discipline low risk projects
• Maintain awareness of developments within the industry, particularly for techniques & tools, physical integration, bill of material controls & management of design maturity

This role is full time OR part time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements

Essential experience of the Senior EC&I Designer

• Experience in a detailed design environment
• Good knowledge of CAD tools
• Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice

Qualifications for the Senior EC&I Designer

• HNC/HND minimum in a relevant discipline OR equivalent academic qualification
