What is the Role?

SSEN Distribution has an extensive capital development programme as we work to deliver a net zero electricity system.

This newly created role is required to support the growth of our business and is an exciting opportunity for a Contract Manager - Cost Control and Analysis to join our Procurement and Commercial team to support our Large Capital Delivery Directorate in our Distribution business.

You will be responsible for providing commercial analysis activities for a major portfolio of projects across the Distribution business providing data driven insights and analysis to support commercial reporting.

To successfully operate within a regulated business environment, we are required to monitor, control and report on all costs required on the Projects - this includes areas such as Forecasting, Budgeting, Change Control, Cost Reporting and Accrual Generation.

Working within the Procurement and Commercial team, as the Contract Manager - Cost Control and Analysis, you will take a lead role in the coordination and fulfilment of all Cost Control activities required from the Procurement and Commercial team.

- Degree in appropriate business or technical discipline or equivalent experience.

- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations and standards, such as those set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) or equivalent bodies.
- Conduct regular audits, assessments, and inspections of locations, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
- To drive and ensure quality initiatives and improvements at a national and regional levels to assist locations to achieve outstanding and excellence in performance outcomes.
- Monitor the quality of care provided, conducting regular observations and audits to ensure compliance with standards and to identify training needs.
- To provide support and information to senior and registered managers to enable effective responses to regulatory reports.

Regulatory Compliance

- Implement appropriate methods to monitor compliance against UK wide regulation through the use of regular internal compliance inspections.
- Proactively assist Registered Managers and staff, when necessary, in the successful execution of regulatory inspections.
- Ensure that there is a robust system for managing and having oversight on notifications to the regulator and to communicate these to senior managers where this creates an organisational risk.
- Develop sound systems to ensure that all regulatory evidence is effectively collated and updated and accessible at location level.
- Provide assistance and direction to Registered Managers when responding to compliance reports and developing action plans as required with clear timeframes embedded within the action plans.
- Undertake internal regulatory compliance inspections as per an annual program and in response to significant events.
- Working with the Interim Group Quality Assurance and Inspection Manager develop and implement appropriate professional standards and monitor adherence to policies and procedures at all levels within the group to ensure continued compliance.

Your new role

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for ensuring environmental compliance is adhered to across the Company's portfolio of sites (including flexible power generation, BESS, wind and solar) sites
• Accountable for the management of statutory environmental permit requirements, such as but not limited to, emissions monitoring and reporting
• Responsible for the maintenance of UK-ETS permits and procedures, including annual verifications
• Ensuring all new sites in development or construction obtain statutory environmental permits in line with key project timescales
• Providing key input intothe portfolio carbon reporting procedures (ESOS, ISO 50001 etc.)
• Managing variations to existing environmental permits that may be required
• Maintaining and establishing long-term relationships with environmental regulators and third-party consultants
• Act as internal expert on environmental legislation and regulation and improve environmental awareness throughout the business
• Representing the business at workshops, industry forums and working groups as required
• Carrying out internal environmental auditing and host audits of our sites by the Regulators
• Responsibility for assessing new and changing environmental legislation and providing responses to key government consultations
• Be a key consultee at relevant design process meetings, attending and providing input at all stages of the design process and lifecycle of projects.
• Working closely with key internal stakeholders on all environmental matters
• Travel will be required as part of the role, therefore own transport is essential with occasional overnight stays if necessary
• Managing one direct report who will assist with the above responsibilities

What you need to succeed

• Degree in a relevant field
• Membership (or working towards) of a relevant professional body (i.e. IEMA, IES, IAQM etc.)
• Proven experience in environmental management and compliance practices
• Demonstrable experience in managing environmental permitting processes, preferably with MCP's and specified generators
• Demonstrable experience in analysing complex analytical environmental datasets
• Greenhouse gas calculation and reporting experience would be desirable
• Competent knowledge of the environmental permitting regulations (installation, Medium Combustion Plants (MCPD), Specified Generators and Flood Risk Activities)
• Competent with new and evolving environmental legislation and policy
• Good general knowledge of low carbon technologies and renewable energy technologies

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Strong experience in Portfolio Risk Management and Assurance leadership experience within IT, OT and Data context.

- Experience of working within a Portfolio Management Office would be beneficial with a good working knowledge of key Service and change delivery processes, including status reporting, assurance and audit, budgeting and estimating, risk and issue management, quality gates and change management.

- Qualified to Practitioner Level in an industry recognised Risk Management Methodology.

- Be familiar with structured project management methodologies and a good understanding of the end-to-end project delivery lifecycle, in particular Agile delivery.

Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.

Cyber Security Assurance Manager

We have a brand new role for a Cyber Assurance Manager to join our growing Cyber Competency Centre, providing Thales UK business units with Cyber Security expertise.

Reporting to the UK Head of Cyber and the assigned domain Technical Director for the assurance of through-life cybersecurity engineering activities relating to products and solutions within the domain:

Key responsibilities:

• Participating in key technical reviews for all bids and projects within the scope of their assignment.
• Verifying that cybersecurity risks have been identified, assessed and managed within bids and projects in agreement with the delegated authorities for engineering security risk approval in Thales UK.
• Reviewing the principle security artefacts and security deliverables (as defined within the Cybersecurity Management Plan) and advising the security practitioners on the artefact’s completeness and fitness for purpose.
• Maintaining sector based specific knowledge in their area of responsibility.
   
• Overseeing the continued (cyber) assurance activities of products and solutions within the scope of their assignment. This should include all relevant phases of DDQS and in-service assurance.
• Articulating the cybersecurity risks of products and solutions, and the assessment of potential/proposed risk management options.
• Supporting the cybersecurity assurance aspects of product policy and road mapping
• Supporting Business Unit leadership’s cybersecurity transformation, including general cybersecurity upskilling and knowledge transfer within domain
• Assist customers in the routine development of Operational Technology (OT) security practices

Location: Can be flexible on Base location (Reading, Crawley, Bristol, Ebbw Vale, Cheadle, Doncaster, Home Start) ; Circa. 40% remote but will need to be flexible to travel around the numerous Thales & Customer facilities/locations.

What we are looking for:

• A background with Cyber Security Engineering

Your new role
The Group Compliance and Audit Manager is responsible for supporting the business in complying with group policies, processes, and procedures (SOPs), and external requirements including GDPR, ISO standards and all other relevant regulations and legislation. Key Responsibilities
Audit and business certifications

• Manage the Group's internal audit programme.
• Carry out internal audits in line with the Group's internal audit programme and ensure that findings add value to the business.
• Produce audit reports within agreed timescales that are factually accurate, and a true reflection of the processes audited.
• Ensure that audit findings are resolved by auditees within agreed timescales.
• Work with each site to manage and maintain the Group's Integrated Management System to ensure that it remains current, fit for purpose, efficient, effective and compliant with internal and external requirements.
• Maintain all controlled documents in the Integrated Management System.
• Manage and maintain compliance with ISO and other certifications including PCI DSS. Ensure that new sites achieve the required certifications and maintain compliance with these standards.
• Be the primary point of contact for all relevant certifying and assessment bodies.
• Oversee all external audits in the Group and provide support to all sites during the audit process.

Compliance

• Ensure that there are GDPR-compliant policies, processes and procedures in place and that these are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated to all team members.
• Establish systems and processes to measure and monitor that appropriate and regular compliance training is taking place within agreed timescales.
• Investigate and manage any compliance incidents including personal data breaches through to resolution, and where applicable ensure that these are reported to the regulators within required timescales. Ensure that root causes of any risks or issues are identified and preventive actions are put in place and evaluated for effectiveness.
• Support the Group Compliance and Audit Director with maintaining the Group's risk and governance framework.
• Know and understand defined role in Business Continuity Plan.
• Support the Group Compliance and Audit Director with Crisis Management and Business Continuity incidents and associated procedures and activities.
• Comply with all company policies and all relevant data protection legislation to ensure our:
• Clients' and team members' sensitive and personal information is protected and processed in accordance with the law
• Our team members' and clients' rights under the legislation are protected and treated with the utmost respect and integrity.

Management information and reporting

• Develop and implement reporting tools to monitor, measure and analyse adherence to process, identify areas for improvement and support the resolution of identified issues or areas for concern.
• Report outcomes of audit and monitoring activities and any resulting risks and issues to senior management and other key stakeholders.
• Monitor, measure and analyse the performance of the IMS and report to senior management on its effectiveness and where improvements can be made.
• Produce accurate and timely reporting.

Quality management
