About this opportunity
We're recruiting for a Lead Quality Engineer to work closely with the Engineering Lead within the Embedded Finance Team.
This is a key role offering a unique and challenging opportunity to shape the growing Embedded Finance Tech Team and Quality Engineering framework.

The Embedded Finance team is a fast-paced start-up group within Consumer Lending and is tasked with building out propositions that solve customers' financial needs, when and where they are. We have just launched our first product, Black Horse Flex Pay, and we're developing innovative products aiming to offer customers and merchants modern ways for online purchasing, with the ethos of Lloyds Banking Group responsible lending.
As the Lead Quality Engineer, you'll be in charge of leading all aspects of the quality roadmap, including creating testing strategies and coordinating the automation process using standard software testing practices.
Plus, you'll work closely with developers, business partners and product managers to build the testing framework and test suites to support our continuous deployment pipeline ensuring robust and efficient releases.
Aside of hands-on contribution, you'll hire and grow a team of Quality Engineers, developing people by coaching and technical leadership.
You'll provide Quality Engineering oversight and technical expertise throughout the entire software lifecycle, in a complex scenario integrated with third-party systems.

What you'll need:

Strong Quality Engineering background, including automated testing frameworks and testing best practices

Automation-first approach, with a passion for driving productivity and a focus on reducing risk

Experience with cloud environment (e.g. GCP) and testing infrastructure

Proven leadership skills in guiding Quality Engineering teams or complex programmes using Agile methodologies

Proficiency in coding languages such as Java, Python, or similar

Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
And any experience of these would be really useful:

Familiarity with Embedded Finance or financial services applications

Experience with Jira Align and Confluence

Familiarity with SQL and Snowflake

Experience on non-functional testing on live systems at scale
