The National Security Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Sr. Test and Quality Assurance Engineer to work at our customer site in Sacramento, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), U-2 System Project Office address mission critical requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
The Sr. Test and Quality Assurance Engineer will work with assigned Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to develop the data management plan and overall quality control plan for test data for each test or demo. Routinely provides input into both testing and evaluation planning and reporting documents in accordance with Operational Test Command’s (OTC’s) responsibilities. May be assigned to several tests simultaneously in varying stages of planning, execution, or reporting.
The Sr. Test and Quality Assurance Engineer will conduct background research with the IPT assigned to the test or demonstration to determine testability of Critical Operational Issues and Criteria (COIC) and additional issues. Tasking will include:
- Development of test or other event concepts in support of the program requirements.
- Reviews of test methodologies for overall test design and for specific issue, criterion, and measure of performance requirements.
- Research and written reporting of background material for systems concepts being tested.
- Preparation of material for submission to the appropriate organizations to obtain approval to enter into testing activities.
The Sr. Test and Quality Assurance Engineer will identify test support requirements (funds, facilities, personnel, etc.); determine supplies, equipment, and other materials required; and prepares input to IPT for development of cost estimates for the test. Finalize the Test Plan (TP) which tasks the Test Organizations and other elements for support. Ensures cost phased obligation plan agrees with TP. Ensures that test equipment is accounted for, maintained, serviced, and turned-in upon test completion.
The Sr. Test and Quality Assurance Engineer will ensure test members are trained in test design and data collection, reduction, and quality control techniques, as needed. Conducts pilot test to validate testing and data management procedures. Conducts quality assurance data scrubs/reviews to ensure data collection and reduction procedures are understood and properly adhered to. Conducts record tests. Ensures Master Event List (MEL) or scenario is followed as closely as possible, making adjustments as circumstances require. Ensures data collection plan is followed as designed and that appropriate test team personnel review data prior to and after input to databases. Maintains Test Log.
The Sr. Test and Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for development of accurate and comprehensive test reporting documents for the test or event and staffing, approval, and publication in accordance with AFLCMC procedures. Conducts review and analysis of the collected data with the assigned IPT and is responsible for finalizing the report. Works with other test team personnel to develop test team observations and limitations providing information on test execution, and includes this data in the report. Monitors the test report until it is released by the appropriate office.
The Sr. Test and Quality Assurance Engineer will prepare briefing documents such as background reports, memoranda, and audio-visual aids to inform or gain approval of the test and evaluation program. Briefs testing community and IPT, as required. Responds to inquiries from other organizations, representatives from other services, other government agencies, or non-Federal organizations, if appropriate, to provide information about problem areas in assigned tests/projects, determines actions required, and coordinates on responsibilities. May plan, conduct, or participate in work group meetings related to assigned tests or experiments or as required. Remains proficient in the field of expertise through reviewing technical literature and publications, conferring with government and non-government professional representatives of other services, industry organizations, and technical organizations.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lead and manage works of other technical staff that has significant impact on project results/outputs.
- Ability to develop and recommend new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of functions strategy and operations.
- Requires ability to communicate with senior leadership (internally or client) regarding matters of significant importance to the organization/project.
- Ability to convince others to accept areas view/current practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices and approaches.
- An in-depth understanding of technical testing and quality assurance principles, theories, concepts and their application across range of programs.
- A BS degree and 12 to 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 to 13 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience working on military aircraft avionics systems, subsystems and required support systems or equipment highly desired.
- Experience in U.S. Air Force test processes desired
- Security Clearance: Current TS / SCI

Pay Range:
Pay Range $108,550.00 - $196,225.00
