Your new role
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for all sourcing activity on behalf of the organisation, and will primarily be focused around purchasing raw materials, though there will still be an element of indirect procurement. Leading a team of 2 Buyers, the Senior Buyer / Purchasing Manager will be responsible for the team performance and savings targets.

The Purchasing Manager will work with stakeholders across the business to establish procurement needs, and you will be able to read technical engineering drawings.

In this role, you will strive to deliver tangible cost savings and drive efficiencies for the company, thus improving bottom line profits. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven procurement and purchasing professional to join a globally recognised company and make the necessary changes to optimise performance levels and cost savings. This will involve reviewing current spend levels and supplier base and analysing the market to identify commercial opportunities to ensure that all suppliers are fit for purpose and delivering the best value. You will also review and manage the performance of contracts.

I am recruiting for an experienced and dynamic Senior Buyer to join a growing procurement team in a £multi-million manufacturing business near Wigan. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key role within our procurement department, offering a competitive salary of up to £45,000.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee two purchasing staff, ensuring duties are carried out in a timely manner and to a high standard.

Main point of contact for all material and equipment suppliers

Onboard approved subcontractors, checking documentation

Setup and maintain electronic price files for all material and equipment suppliers

Agree and monitor supplier credit terms

Working alongside the commercial manager, agree commercial terms

Monitor and record performance of key suppliers

Liaise with operational managers and commercial staff to identify procurement needs

Benchmark suppliers by competitive tender or market research

Represent procurement mobilisations of new R&M contracts, including demobilisations

Maintain a register of hired plant and equipment

Attend mobilisations of new contracts, also demobilisations at end of contract

Develop relationships with suppliers

Research new products and new legislation in the sector

Support stock taking materials when needed

Liaise with the finance team to resolve price queries

Represent group procurement for planned and project work

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Procurement and SRM Partner to join the Guinness Team. This is a permanent, full-time vacancy based in our Oldham, Bower House office. We are currently working to a hybrid working style, working 2 days per week in the office and 3 from home.
