We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Buyer / Category Purchasing Manager who has experience buying within retail environment.
As a Senior Buyer / Category Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for managing and developing the purchasing strategy across key product categories.
Working as the Senior Buyer / Category Purchasing Manager you will work closely with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that the company source the best products at the most competitive prices. Your role will be crucial in maintaining the company’s reputation for quality and value, as well as contributing to the overall growth of the business.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Senior Buyer / Category Purchasing Manager include:
• Develop and implement category-specific purchasing strategies in line with overall business objectives
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating favourable terms and ensuring the timely delivery of products
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities and risks
• Collaborate with the merchandising, marketing, and sales teams to ensure product offerings meet customer needs and expectations
• Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from sourcing and selection to contract negotiation and supplier management
• Analyse purchasing data and financial reports to inform decision-making and improve category performance
• Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements
• Lead and mentor junior buyers, providing guidance and support to develop their skills and expertise
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
• Proven experience in a senior buying or category management role within a retail environment
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favourable terms and driving cost savings
• Excellent understanding of the retail market, consumer trends, and the competitive landscape
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in relevant software, including Excel and procurement systems
